A turbine blade having a pre-segmented squealer tip is provided. The segment or slots in the squealer tip are located in regions of maximum stress, and reduce cracking of the squealer tip and propagation of cracks into the airfoil. The slots are preferably filled with a corrosion resistant material which is more ductile than the base alloy.

Pre-segmented squealer tip for turbine blades

A method for repairing a turbine blade (,) wherein the tip (,) of the blade is removed (,) and a replacement cap is attached by welding (,). The cap may consist of a plate (,) attached by welding and a squealer (,) formed by depositing weld material (,), as illustrated in FIG. 3. The plate and/or squealer may be formed from a material different from the material of the airfoil portion (,) of the blade in order to optimize the performance of the blade.

Method of repairing a turbine blade

The present invention provides a vane segment compliant seal assembly. The assembly comprises a seal housing adapted to adjustably receive a baffle plate. The housing has an outer wall adapted to be in sealing communication with a vane segment rail and securely mounted within a combustion turbine. A baffle plate adapted to be in sealing communication with a vane segment rail is provided. The baffle plate is adjustably mounted within the housing to move from a first position to a second position relative to a vane rail. At least two compliant seals are provided which are adapted to be securely mounted between the seal housing outer wall and a vane segment rail, and between the baffle plate and a vane segment rail.
