A robotic system for handling components during chromatographic analysis of a sample includes a holder for positioning a sample within a separation pathway, the holder including a first opening having an internally tapered shape and a second opening having an externally tapered shape. An interior of the holder, between the first and second openings, defines the separation pathway. A hollow rigid member has an externally tapered shape, and a receiving portion has an internally tapered shape. The holder is positioned between the hollow rigid member and the receiving portion, wherein the externally tapered hollow rigid member engages the internally tapered first opening and the internally tapered receiving portion receives the externally tapered second opening to provide a sealed separation pathway extending from the hollow rigid member to the receiving portion.

System useful for holding a sample and in subjecting the sample to chromatographic analysis

The present invention relates generally to the field of analyzing proteins and more specifically to the reduction and alkylation of protein samples during protein analysis. A novel composition and method for reducing and alkylating proteins is disclosed. A novel reagent including a combination of a volatile reducing agent, a volatile alkylating agent, and a volatile solvent is used for a one-step reduction and alkylation of proteins allowing the protein sample to remain in the same container during the reduction and alkylation processes.

Disclosed are polypeptide analogs of FLINT, polydeoxynucleotides encoding FLINT analogs, and methods of using FLINT analogs and polydeoxynucleotides. The FLINT analogs of the invention include polypeptides having the amino acid sequence of FLINT, modified at one or more positions with amino acid substitutions, and include fragments thereof, as well as Fc fusions comprising FLINT and FLINT analogs.

The present invention provides anti-obesity proteins, which when administered to a patient regulate fat tissue. Accordingly, such agents allow patients to overcome their obesity handicap and live normal lives with much reduced risk for type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

A portable hunting stand which is adapted to be retro-fitted to a three wheeled motorcycle, ATV or the like for permanent operative association therewith may be deployed by a hunter or the like in a low profile ATV-transportable position, a cage position providing an enclosure, or a hunting position for seating the hunter in a secure elevated position above the terrain. A plurality of upwardly extending, rigid support stanchions operatively disposed generally at the vertices of the standard ATV rectangular deck support a chair support plate coupled to the stanchions. An associated foldable footrest may be deployed to provide a firm footing and to brace the elevated chair upon which the hunter may sit. A front stabilizer leg associated with the front of the chair provides a stabilizing connection to the chair support plate. Side and rear plate structure provides for conversion of the stand into an enclosure suitable in the cage position, for at least temporarily housing a hunting dog or the like or for storing or transporting game. The foot shelf is foldably coupled to the front stanchions and it may be deployed in either a horizontal orientation providing a foot support, or it may be folded vertically upwardly rearwardly into contact with the front stanchions to help provide an enclosure. A pair of rear support pedestals extend downwardly from the rear stanchions and terminate in suitable support plates which contact the ground to support the rear of the ATV to insure that the hunter, or other person seated within the elevated chair is securely braced.
