The tub may define a wash chamber within the cabinet. The spray arm may be movably disposed within the wash chamber. The spray arm may define one or more orifices to direct wash fluid to the wash chamber. The fluid pump may be in fluid communication with the spray arm to motivate wash fluid thereto. The electric motor may be mounted apart from the fluid pump in mechanical communication with the spray arm to direct a spray position thereof. The wireless power receiver may be in electrical communication with the electric motor. The wireless power transmitter may be spaced apart from the fluid pump in operable communication with the wireless power receiver to transmit an electromagnetic field thereto.

Dishwashing appliance having a wirelessly powered spray assembly

A dishwashing appliance may include a cabinet, a tub, a fluid pump, and a wireless power transmitter. The tub may define a wash chamber within the cabinet. The fluid pump may be in fluid communication with the tub for motivating a flow of wash fluid from the tub when activated. The fluid pump may include a fluid impeller rotatably positioned in fluid communication with the wash chamber, and an electric motor in mechanical communication with the fluid impeller to motivate rotation thereof. The wireless power receiver may be in electrical communication with the electric motor. The wireless power transmitter may be spaced apart from the wireless power receiver in operable communication with the wireless power receiver to transmit an electromagnetic field thereto.

Dishwashing appliance having a wirelessly powered pump assembly

A dishwashing appliance or fluid pump, as provided herein may include a fluid impeller, an electric motor, and a housing. The fluid impeller may be rotatably receivable within a tub of the dishwashing appliance. The electric motor may be in mechanical communication with the fluid impeller to motivate rotation thereof. The electric motor may include a multi-phase winding set sealed within an overmolded insulation. The housing may enclose the electric motor therein. The housing may be receivable within a sump to which water is directed in the dishwashing appliance.

Dishwashing appliance and electric motor for a fluid pump with a thermal-protection assembly

A dishwasher appliance includes a tub that defines a wash chamber for receipt of articles for washing. A sump is positioned at a bottom of the wash chamber for receiving fluid from the wash chamber. A fluid circulation assembly is at least partially disposed within the sump. The fluid circulation assembly is mounted in the sump with a resilient mounting post received in a support tube of the fluid circulation assembly, whereby the fluid circulation assembly is vibrationally isolated from the sump. The fluid circulation assembly includes a releasable clip configured to lock the resilient mounting post into the support tube.

The second spray zone may include a second spray outlet spaced apart from the first spray outlet. The cammed diverter valve may be mounted within the manifold body and be movable between a first zone position and a second zone position. The first zone position may direct wash fluid to the first spray zone and restrict wash fluid to the second spray zone. The second zone position may direct wash fluid to the second spray zone and restrict wash fluid to the first spray zone.

The sump may be positioned at a bottom portion of the tub along a vertical direction. The sump may include a bottom wall defining a recessed chamber. The fluid pump may be in fluid communication with the recessed chamber of the bottom wall. The fluid pump may include a fluid impeller, an electric motor, and a volute cover. The fluid impeller may be rotatably positioned within the recessed chamber. The electric motor may be in mechanical communication with the fluid impeller to motivate rotation thereof. The electric motor may be positioned above the fluid impeller. The volute cover may be positioned between the electric motor and the fluid impeller along an axial direction.

A method of determining a position of a diverter of a fluid circulation system in a dishwasher appliance includes measuring a fluid pressure in a sump of the dishwasher appliance while pumping fluid from the sump into a wash chamber of the dishwasher appliance via a first component when the diverter is in a first position. The method also includes measuring the fluid pressure in the sump of the dishwasher appliance while pumping the fluid from the sump to a filter cleaning manifold when the diverter is in a second position. Based on the measured fluid pressure, the method determines whether the diverter is in the second position.

Methods for determining operation mode of dishwasher appliance fluid circulation system

A dishwasher appliance is provided having a fluid circulation assembly that uses a single motor and a common drive shaft to rotate both a wash pump impeller and a drain pump impeller. The wash pump impeller and the drain pump impeller are separated by a filter to prevent food soil from being circulated by the wash pump impeller. The common drive shaft passes through an aperture in the filter, the aperture being sealed to prevent the passing of food soil by an inlet guide assembly. The inlet guide assembly includes an upper inlet guide and a lower inlet guide that define a clearance bore and a washer chamber. A washer is positioned in the washer chamber to prevent the flow of food soil through the clearance bore.

Single drive axis motor for a dishwasher appliance

A clutch assembly includes a drive shaft extending along an axial direction, and an output component, the output component defining a central opening in which the drive shaft is inserted. The clutch assembly further includes a clutch selectively coupling the output component to the drive shaft. The clutch includes a cavity defined in the output component and in communication with the central opening. The clutch further includes a bearing disposed within the cavity, the bearing movable within the cavity between a first position and a second position. The bearing is spaced from the drive shaft in the first position. The bearing contacts an inner surface of the output component defining the cavity and contacts the drive shaft to transfer rotational motion from the drive shaft to the output component in the second position.

A filter assembly includes a first filter member including a first filter panel which defines a central axial aperture and a second filter member including a second filter panel which defines a central axial aperture. The filter assembly further includes a first discharge blade which includes a body and a blade arm, the body defining a central axial bore hole and in contact with the first outer surface of the first filter panel. The filter assembly further includes a second discharge blade which includes a body and a blade arm extending radially from the body, the body defining a central axial bore hole and in contact with the second opposing outer surface of the first filter panel and the first outer surface of the second filter panel. The filter assembly further includes a washer in contact with the second outer surface of the second filter panel, and a shaft.

Filter assembly for a dishwasher appliance

A fluid circulation assembly for a dishwasher appliance includes a motor with a drive shaft rotatably coupled to the motor. An impeller is coupled to the drive shaft with a one-way clutch. The one-way clutch includes a housing integrally formed in the impeller and a bearing disposed within the housing. The bearing is movable within the housing between a first position and a second position. The bearing is spaced from the drive shaft in the first position, and the bearing operatively engages the housing and the drive shaft to transfer rotational motion from the drive shaft to the impeller in the second position.

One-way clutch

A dishwashing appliance having a static jet assembly is provided herein. The dishwashing appliance may include a tub defining a wash chamber, a pump, and a spray assembly. The pump may be configured to deliver a wash fluid into the wash chamber. The spray assembly may be housed within the wash chamber of the tub in fluid communication with the pump to receive wash fluid therefrom. The static jet assembly may be disposed within the wash chamber and include a static body. The static body may extend about an exterior hole. The static body may define an interior passage and a jet aperture in fluid communication with the pump. The jet aperture may be defined in fluid communication between the interior passage and the wash chamber.
