A device charging system may include a battery module configured to supply a type of power to at least one load device. A device charging system may include a central charging station configured to charge the battery module, the central charging station including a locking mechanism, wherein the locking mechanism is configured to lock the battery module to the central charging station in response to an electronic command, and wherein the locking mechanism is configured to be physically overridden via a user.

Distributed charging station

A wiring device including a first printed circuit board (PCB) that includes a first direct current (DC) output port and a second DC output port. The wiring device further includes a second PCB electrically connected with the first PCB, the second PCB including a planar transformer integrated with a surface of the second PCB and configured to output power at one or more DC voltage levels, a switch connected to the planar transformer, and a microcontroller. The microcontroller includes an electronic processor and is configured to control delivery of power from the planar transformer to at least one of the first DC output port and the second DC output port using the switch. The switch may have a Gallium Nitride (GaN) chemistry or a Silicon Carbide (SiC) chemistry.

GaN USB wiring device

A marine power pedestal is disclosed. The power pedestal is configured to connect to a mobile device comprising a main body, one or more electrical power units disposed in the main body and configured to conduct power to a marine vessel, one or more display screens, one or more sensors. A controller including a network interface is configured to communicate with a mobile device via a communication network, transmit data to a server via the communication network, and execute commands received, via the communication network, from the server or the mobile device.

User interface control server and method for remote control management of marine dock electric charging stations

A method for user control of one or more devices located within a physical space. The method includes creating a network block in response to a user input, the network block including network identifying metadata. The network identifying metadata includes a list of the one or more devices. The method also includes writing the network block to a ledger under a first user profile, linking the network block to a host server, receiving a first request to modify the network block, and modifying the network block. Modifying the network block includes adding network identifying metadata, deleting network identifying metadata, and altering network identifying metadata. The method also includes receiving a second request to transfer ownership of the network block and linking the network block to a second user profile. Linking the network block to the second user profile transfers ownership of the list of the one or more devices.

Blockchain-based IoT

A testing system may include a printed-circuit board coil embedded on a printed circuit board. The testing system may further include a test circuit electrically connected to the printed-circuit board coil, the test circuit configured to: receive a signal from the printed-circuit board coil, analyze the signal from the printed-circuit board coil, and determine a fault based on the signal from the printed circuit board coil.

Circuit interrupting device having printed circuit board coils

A circuit interrupting device including a line terminal, a wideband current sensor configured to measure a current flowing through the line terminal, a zero cross detection circuit configured to measure a voltage and frequency of the line terminal, and a microcontroller including an electronic processor. The microcontroller is configured to apply a digital filter to a line current measurement signal received from the wideband current sensor and estimate spectral density of the filtered line current measurement signal. The microcontroller is further configured to calculate an arcing characteristic based on the spectral density, determine whether an arc fault is present within the circuit interrupting device based on a comparison of the arcing characteristic to one or more thresholds, and activate an interrupting device when an arc fault is present.

Arc fault detection through mixed-signal machine learning and neural networks

One embodiment provides a non-contact power transmitter device including a sealed housing provided at least partially within a surface, and a transmitter coil within the sealed housing configured to inductively transfer power to a power receiver device. The power transmitter device also includes a transmitter control unit coupled to the transmitter coil, a transceiver configured to communicate with the power receiver device, and an electronic processor coupled to the transmitter control unit and the transceiver. The electronic processor is configured to establish, using the transceiver, communication with the power receiver device, and negotiate power transfer requirements between the power transmitter device and the power receiver device. The electronic processor is also configured to control the transmitter control unit to transfer power to the power receiver device.

Inductive power transfer

A power assembly a base assembly including a power source and a pedestal assembly. The pedestal assembly includes a head that is removably coupleable to the base assembly, a controller positioned within the head and configured to be in electrical communication with the power source when the head is coupled to the base assembly, and a receptacle assembly removably coupleable to the head and configured to be in electrical communication with the controller when the receptacle assembly is coupled to the head for supplying power to a vessel or vehicle.

Power assembly

Arc fault protection for a digital electricity distribution system that provides power to a device. The system includes an arc fault circuit interrupter ('AFCI') and a controller. The controller is connected to the AFCI. The controller is operable to control the AFCI to disable power to the device. The controller includes a processor and a memory. The controller is configured to transmit a digital electricity energy packet through the AFCI to the device, measure an amount of error associated with the digital electricity energy packet, evaluate the amount of error associated with the digital electricity energy packet, determine whether an arc fault condition is present based on the evaluation of the amount of error associated with the digital electricity energy packet, and control the AFCI to disable power to the device when the arc fault condition is determined to be present.

Arc fault detection and protection in a digital electricity power distribution system

A receptacle including a housing having a front cover, an outlet located on the front cover, and a light configured to project light through the front cover. The receptacle further including a photo sensor, a motion detector, and a controller. The photosensor is configured to detect light and output a light signal corresponding to the detected light. The motion detector is configured to detect motion and output a motion signal corresponding to the detected motion. The controller includes a memory and an electronic processor. The controller is configured to receive the light signal, receive the motion signal, compare the light signal to a light signal threshold, compare the motion signal to a motion signal threshold, and activate at least one selected from a group consisting of the light and the outlet, when the light signal crosses the light signal threshold and the motion crosses the motion signal threshold.

A faceplate assembly and a wiring device having the faceplate assembly are provided. The faceplate assembly includes a wall plate, a wiring device interface and at least one sensor. The wiring device interface has a set of electrical contacts positioned on a rear surface of the wiring device interface configured to mate with a set of contacts on the wiring device. The at least one sensor and at least a portion of the wiring device interface are embedded in the wall plate.

Electrical wiring device with faceplate module

A battery management platform including a battery configured to supply a type of power to at least one load device, and a central charging station configured to provide power to charge the battery while the battery is coupled to the central charging station. Distributed charging station and method of managing the same

A circuit interrupting device including a phase conductor, a neutral conductor, an interrupter configured to disconnect the phase conductor and the neutral conductor from a load, and a sensor configured to generate a signal indicative of current flowing through the phase conductor and the neutral conductor. The circuit interrupting device further includes a microcontroller that includes an electronic processor and is electrically connected to the first sensor and the interrupter. The microcontroller is configured to generate a reference signal, receive a first signal from the sensor, determine whether a difference between a voltage of the first signal and a voltage of the reference signal exceeds a threshold, determine whether the microcontroller has performed a ground fault self-test, and activate the interrupter when the difference exceeds the threshold and the microcontroller has not performed the ground fault self-test.

The test circuit is configured to determine a condition of the line conductor based on a signal of the printed-circuit board coil.
