The present hanging system for growing a potted vegetable plant to an extraordinary unsupported height is generally a tilted open-top liquid-impervious container with a rim adjacent the open top, and an optional soil-containing water-permeable inner container. The liquid-impervious outer container hangs from four elongated suspension members with two adjacent ones 3-9 centimeters longer than the other two so as to tilt the open-top water-impervious container when hung such that the plane of its bottom is tilted at an angle of 20 to 40 degrees from horizontal. The system also incorporates means to hang the container via the suspension members from an elevated structure.

Tilted plant growing system and method

The present invention provides an adjustable height apparatus for storing, measuring and dispensing a desired quantity of semi-solid food, the apparatus being assembled on a piston base with peripheral contact inside a rigid circular sleeve configured for storing at least 600 cubic centimeters of a semi-solid food substance above the piston base inside the rigid circular cylinder. Preferably, the rigid circular sleeve is transparent. After filling, the apparatus is configured to enable pushing a measured food material out the top of the cylinder. A graduated bar is slidingly engaged in the outer surface of the circular sleeve such that markings on it can be aligned with the top of the piston base. Pushing down on the circular sleeve enables the desired quantity only to be above the top rim of the cylinder.

Apparatus and method for storing, measuring and dispensing semi-solid food substances

The present hanging system for growing a potted vegetable plant is generally a liquid-impervious container configured to be hung such that the plane of its bottom is tilted at an angle of 20 to 40 degrees from horizontal. Preferably, there is an optional soil-containing water-permeable inner container. Preferably, the liquid-impervious outer container is a pail (bucket) with a pivoting bail (handle) restrained by a tether to rotate a limited amount. The apparatus also incorporates means to hang the containers via the bail from an existing elevated structure to complete the present hanging system.

Plant growing system and kit and method for same

The present invention provides an apparatus for storing, measuring and dispensing a desired quantity of semi-solid food, the apparatus being based on piston base with peripheral contact inside a rigid circular sleeve configured for storing at least 600 cubic centimeters of a semi-solid food substance k above the piston base inside the rigid circular cylinder. After filling, the apparatus is configured to enable pushing food material out the top of the cylinder toward the arm on a graduated rod until the desired preset quantity is above the top rim of the cylinder. That material can then be sliced of at the rim level for use and an included lid installed on the top rim of the circular cylinder to cover the remaining food material.

A solar radiation arm shield includes an elongated semi-rigid shell of a UV radiation-blocking material defining first and second side edges. In addition, the arm shield includes a hinged air deflection baffle angled relative to a longitudinal edge of the elongated semi-rigid shell. An adjustable fence-top trellis support bracket assembly forms the basis of a system for creating adjustable trellises on two sides of a fence or wall, and includes a) an elongated support bracket member, b) curved-loop ends on the elongated bar member and the adjoining bracket portion wherein one is attached proximal one end and the other proximal an opposite end of an elongated bar member; c) a movable L-shaped leg generally perpendicular to an elongated bar member of the elongated support bracket portion, wherein the movable leg is engagable with the elongated support bracket member; and d) a means for adjusting and then securing the movable L-shaped leg against the elongated bar portion of the support bracket member.

The present invention provides structures that maximize the use of minimal ground space or pot soil by providing generally vertical outward-sloping multiple cords or net trellis such as to offer increasing volume for plant foliage with height, which is adjustable to the user's desire. A compact kit includes at least two elongated leg member, and at least one elongated support, and can be assembled into structures up to approximately twice as wide at the top as at the base where the plants begin growing in soil. Flaccid replaceable cords when installed incline generally outward and upward to top horizontal rods supporting wining plants to grow generally vertically and even horizontally across the top.

Outward angled plant support system, method, and apparatus

A substantially rectangular and open bottom shield configured to be fitted around an in-ground plant at ground level as enabled by an elongated slit and central aperture. A peripheral wall perpendicular to an opaque top panel extends downward around at least 75% of the perimeter of the top panel. The top panel is inclined toward the central aperture through which water and fertilizer can flow toward the plant root system.

A process for the integral production and reactive consumption of hydrogen peroxide combines oxidation of a high-boiling secondary alcohol to form hydrogen peroxide and the ketone analog, recycle of a hydrogenated ketone/alcohol stream to the oxidation step, and epoxidation of unsaturated fatty acid esters utilizing a gaseous hydrogen peroxide stream as it is produced. The epoxidized esters are known to have desirable characteristics for use as plasticizers and similar products.

Process for integrated co-production of hydrogen peroxide and epoxidized esters

A process is described for producing fatty acid alkyl esters for both diesel fuel and non-fuel uses. The feed material includes whole oleaginous seeds slurried in a liquid triglyceride oil containing at least two weight percent free fatty acid, wherein oil from inside the seeds is first extracted with concurrent esterification of free fatty acids from all sources in an acidic environment. Following sufficient free fatty acid reaction, the intermediate product is subjected to base-catalyzed concurrent extraction and transesterification. Decanting of the byproduct glycerin is followed by water washing. Subsequently, the fatty acid ester product is concurrently purified and fractionated into a biodiesel fuel stream and a non-fuel fraction, each of which undergoes post treatment as needed. The process is optionally integrated with glycerin purification and/or methanol recovery.

Fatty acid alkyl ester production from oleaginous seeds

A process for purifying glycerin recovered as a byproduct of biodiesel production comprises heating a glycerin effluent stream containing a low molecular weight alcohol, water and fatty acid esters of the low molecular weight alcohol to cause transesterification of the fatty acid esters to glycerides and additional low molecular weight alcohol. The reaction mixture is sparged with nitrogen to help remove water and low molecular weight alcohol, which drives the transesterification reaction towards glyceride formation. A wash water stream may also be added to the recovered glycerin stream from biodiesel production. Either before or following the transesterification reaction, an oil layer can be separated from the recovered glycerin stream by reducing the pH of the stream to below 7. Following separation of the oil layer and transesterification the glycerin stream is flash distilled to separate glycerin from water, salts, and glycerides.

Purification of glycerin

The present invention provides for the use of water, rather than cumene, as a more environmentally acceptable diluent for purified cumene hydroperoxide (CHP) solutions. From 1 to about 6 weight percent water can be used to dilute purified CHP solutions, thus reducing or eliminating the use of a hazardous compound, cumene, as a diluent. The method and CHP-water solutions of the present invention should significantly reduce or eliminate the hazardous emissions problems encountered with the use of cumene as a diluent and make CHP solutions more environmentally acceptable to produce, transport and use. Water as a diluent also depresses the freezing point of the resultant solution, thereby permitting year-round use of higher concentration CHP solutions. Water diluted CHP solutions will also reduce cumene-related impurities in finished products made therefrom.

The present invention relates to a new method of making the dimethacrylate ester of alkoxylated bisphenol-A via transesterification with methyl methacrylate. This transesterification reaction proceeds at low temperatures and is driven by the removal of methanol as a methanol/saturated hydrocarbon azeotrope. The lower temperature reaction advantageously inhibits polyerization of the feed ester. The reaction is catalyzed by potassium based catalysts.
