A fixation system for immobilizing a skeletal structure is provided. It includes an internal fixation system having a rod-plate subsystem, a shaft subsystem, and a midfoot plate subsystem. It further includes an external fixation system adapted to connect to the internal fixation system and having a sole that provides a weight-bearing platform underneath a patient's foot to enable a patient to walk with the fixation system.

Implants and methods for treating Charcot foot and other conditions

An orthopedic implant can be used for fixation of a joint or fracture and can include a tapered member and at least one fixation member. The tapered member can be configured for placement in association with one or more bone segments. The tapered member can have a longitudinally extending body that defines an upper surface portion, an opposed lower surface portion and first and second sides, where at least the first and second sides can be formed of porous metal and can have a porous metal outer surface. The at least one fixation member can be integrally formed with the tapered member and can extend laterally outwardly from the tapered member body. The at least one fixation member can be configured to secure the implant to the one or more bone segments to provide fixation of the one or more bone segments relative to the tapered member.

Implants and methods for treating charcot foot and other conditions

A gastrocnemius knife and retractor system and kit includes a surgical knife and a soft tissue retractor. The soft tissue retractor is configurable to move from a collapsed mode to an expanded mode and back again, and can be inserted through a small incision when in the collapsed mode. Once inside the incision, the soft tissue retractor is expanded to permit visualization and accessibility of the surgery site. The surgical knife is then introduced and guided along a path in the frame of the soft tissue retractor, thereby incising the desired tissue. Once the tissue is incised, the surgical knife is withdrawn, followed by the soft tissue retractor after it is collapsed.

A calcaneal targeting device includes a guide body configured to target a corresponding calcaneal bone plate. The guide body includes at least one mounting opening that is configured to align with a corresponding mounting opening of the calcaneal bone plate, at least one targeting opening configured to align with a corresponding fixation opening of the calcaneal bone plate, and a guiding portion that includes a tali targeting opening and a first elongated opening that has a first length. The first elongated opening is configured to allow sliding of a guide wire across the first length and align the tali targeting opening with a sustentaculum tali.

A device for releasing soft tissue includes a distractor and blade assembly. The distractor may include a guide channel positioned along an edge of the distractor and the blade assembly fits into the guide channel and is configured to slide within the channel of the distractor.

Tissue release instrument and methods of use

Implant devices for the internal fixation of fractured bones, and more particularly to ankle plates for the tibia bone are disclosed and include an anterolateral tibia plate having an L-shaped body including a proximal portion defining a longitudinal axis, and a distal portion defining a traverse axis, and having a support bridge connected between the proximal portion and the distal portion. Implant devices disclosed also include an anterior tibia plate having an elongated first portion, a second portion that widens outward with respect to the elongated first portion, and a plurality of removable tabs attached to the outer edge of the second portion. Implant devices disclosed also include a medial tibia plate having an elongated shaft with a proximal portion and a distal portion. The distal portion is configured to extend proximate to a base of medial malleolus, and has a curvature with respect to a longitudinal axis defined by the elongated shaft. The distal portion may include a plurality of removable tabs. The removable tabs may be disposed to define an opening between the removable tabs to orient a bone fastener into a bone.

An implant can include a bridge member having an upper surface, a lower surface and opposed sides extending between the upper and lower surfaces, where at least the sides can be formed of a porous metal construct having a porous metal outer surface. First and second fixation members can be integrally connected with the bridge member and can include a body having a width greater than a corresponding width of the bridge member and a length greater than a corresponding length of the bridge member, where at least the body can be formed of the porous metal construct with the porous metal outer surface. The implant can be positioned into the bone segments such that the bridge member can fix the bone segments in a first direction perpendicular to the bridge member and the fixation members can fix the bone segments in a second direction parallel to the bridge member.

An ankle implant for implantation at a distal tibia can include a first sleeve augment, a second sleeve augment, an intramedullary (IM) implant and a connecting peg. The first sleeve augment can have a first cannulated sleeve body comprising a first inner solid metal body portion and a first outer porous metal body portion. The IM implant can have an outer augment mounting structure. The second sleeve augment can have a second cannulated sleeve body comprising a second inner solid metal body portion and a second outer porous metal body portion. The second inner solid metal body portion can include a second sleeve first mating structure. The first and second sleeve augments can be assembled onto the IM implant in a stacked orientation with the connecting peg received by both the first sleeve first mating structure and the second sleeve first mating structure in a keyed relationship.
