A spray bar injector including a spray bar defining a longitudinal axis and including a fluid inlet and a plurality of spray outlet orifices spaced apart longitudinally in a direction along the longitudinal axis. A check or spray valve is operatively connected to each spray outlet orifice. A master valve is in fluid communication with the fluid inlet, operatively connected to divert flow from the fluid inlet into a first passage and block flow into a second passage in a first position to open the check valves and issue a spray from the spray outlet orifices, and to divert flow from the fluid inlet into the second passage and block flow into the first passage in a second position to close the check valves and block issue of spray from the spray outlet orifices.

Pulsed spraybar injector

A fluid injector for injecting an injection fluid into a hot flow can include a flow structure defining an injection flow channel and configured to extend at least partially into a flow path to introduce the injection fluid into the hot flow in the flow path. The flow structure can include one or more heat resistance features to protect the flow structure and the fluid from heat of the hot flow.

Fluid injectors for hot flow

A nozzle for injecting liquid includes a nozzle body defining a flow channel and a swirl ante-chamber in fluid communication with the flow channel. An injection point orifice is defined in the swirl ante-chamber. The flow channel feeds into the swirl ante-chamber to impart a tangential flow component on fluids entering the swirl ante-chamber to generate swirl on a spray issuing from the injection point orifice. A second flow channel can be included in fluid communication with the swirl ante-chamber. The second flow channel feeds into the swirl ante-chamber in cooperation with or in opposition to the first flow channel. The first flow channel, second flow channel, and swirl ante-chamber are configured and adapted to adjust spray angle of a spray issuing from the injection point orifice by varying flow apportionment among the first and second flow channels.

Variable angle multi-point injection

A nozzle for injecting liquid includes a nozzle body defining a plurality of injection point orifices and an annular prefilmer positioned downstream of the injection point orifices for prefilming impingement of spray from the injection point orifices on the prefilmer. A swirl antechamber can be defined upstream of the injection point orifices for supplying a swirling liquid flow to the injection point orifices for impingement of a swirling flow on the prefilmer.

Swirl impingement prefilming

A sealing device is provided for use with an assembly having radially inner and outer parts in fluid communication and movable relative to one another. The sealing device includes a first annular lip which defines an opening for receiving the radially inner part, and an annular channel disposed radially outward of the opening. The first annular lip is configured and adapted for deformation and compressive sealed engagement with the radially inner part while permitting movement of the radially inner part relative thereto. An annular body integrally formed with the first annular lip of the sealing device defines an interior space in communication with the annular channel and the opening. The annular body extends radially outward of the first annular lip and is configured and adapted for sealed engagement with the radially outer part.

Sealing device

A multipoint injector includes a nozzle body defining a fluid inlet in fluid communication with a plurality of feed bores. A plurality of swirl chambers is defined radially outward from the fluid inlet of the nozzle body in fluid communication with the fluid inlet through the feed bores. A plurality of injection orifices are respectively aligned in fluid communication with the swirl chambers for issuing a swirling spray of fluid passing from each swirl chamber through each injection orifice.

Multipoint injectors

Combustion systems and the related methods operate to supply a stream of combustion products to a turbine in a gas turbine engine by forming an outer recirculation zone of recirculating combustion products within a combustor and by forming an inner recirculation zone inboard of the outer recirculation zone. The inner and outer recirculation zones are formed by imparting swirl to compressor discharge air passing through an outer air swirler and an inner air swirler radially inboard of the outer air swirler. Fuel is injected from an outer fuel injector into the outer recirculation zone, and fuel is also injected from an inner fuel injector into the inner recirculation zone.

Recirculating product injection nozzle

An injector for injecting a flat fan of liquid includes an injector body defining a pair of air channels, with each air channel fluidly connected to a respective air inlet. The air channels join one another at a common throat defined in the injector body and are separated by a land defined in the injector body extending from the air inlets to a point proximate the throat. The air channels and a liquid inlet are in proximity to draw liquid out of the liquid inlet into the throat with air flowing through the air channels. A diverging diffuser is provided in fluid communication with the throat. The diffuser includes an impingement surface defined in the injector body opposed to the liquid inlet. The liquid inlet is configured to inject liquid against the impingement surface to form a fan of liquid diverging outward through the diffuser.

Flat fan air assist injectors

A method of manufacturing gas and/or fuel swirlers for fuel injectors and combustor domes and cone-shaped swirlers so manufactured are disclosed. The disclosed conical swirlers feature cut-through slots on a cone-shaped body. The contour and spacing of the slots are configured and arranged to accommodate a wide range of requirements for fluid flow areas and swirl strengths. Preferably, the cone-shaped swirlers can be manufactured by wire EDM processing. More preferably, multiple cone-shaped swirlers can be manufactured simultaneously by nesting wirier blanks in a stack and wire EDM processing the stack as a unit. The cone-shaped pinwheel swirler fits well into various fuel injector heads, enabling the injectors to reduce the frontal surface area and flat area for minimal potential of carbon formation.

Conical swirler for fuel injectors and combustor domes and methods of manufacturing the same

A multipoint injector ring includes a distributor ring defining a central axis and having a fluid inlet and a plurality of swirlers in fluid communication with the fluid inlet for imparting swirl on fluid from the fluid inlet. The swirlers are defined in a downstream surface of the distributor ring. An orifice ring is mounted to the distributor ring. The orifice ring defines a plurality of fluid outlets circumferentially spaced apart with respect to the central axis. Each fluid outlet is aligned downstream of a respective swirler for injecting swirling fluid from the swirlers in a downstream direction.

Multipoint injectors with standard envelope characteristics

A multi-point injector includes an annular body defining an interior annular flow passage. The annular body includes a fluid inlet and a plurality of circumferentially spaced apart fluid outlets in fluid communication with the interior flow passage. Each of the outlets has a swirl chamber formed within the annular body associated therewith for imparting swirl to fluid delivered thereto.

Multi-point injector ring

A fuel injection and mixing system is provided that is suitable for use with various types of fuel reformers. Preferably, the system includes a piezoelectric injector for delivering atomized fuel, a gas swirler, such as a steam swirler and/or an air swirler, a mixing chamber and a flow mixing device. The system utilizes ultrasonic vibrations to achieve fuel atomization. The fuel injection and mixing system can be used with a variety of fuel reformers and fuel cells, such as SOFC fuel cells.
