Battery modules and systems for remote command and control of same

Described are mechanically robust, thermally managed battery module constructions including a battery case, a reinforcing divider in the case, and battery cells housed by the reinforcing divider. The reinforcing divider defines a plurality of thermal transfer elements externalized of the battery case. A shock dampening material can be provided between the reinforcing divider and the battery case to facilitate a mechanical, shock-dampened, reinforcing integration of the divider and case.

Battery module construction

An integrated high-performance and light-weight electric drive system for a bicycle is disclosed comprising an integrated unitary motor-controller-drive system that can be inserted into and removed from a first tube portion of a bicycle frame through an open bottom bracket shell portion of the bicycle frame. A longitudinally-extending battery pack configured to be electrically connected with and to provide electrical power to the electric motor and the controller may be configured to be inserted into and removed from a second tube portion of the bicycle frame through the open bottom bracket shell portion of the bicycle frame. Some or all of the electrical components may not be visible from the exterior of the bicycle. A unique digital torque sensing and control system is described along with regenerative braking and other unique features.

Integrated electric bicycle drive system

A bottle for use with an apparatus such as a water cooler that is easy to install. The bottle has a recessed area on the bottom and a handle in the recessed area. The handle allows a human who is to install the bottle on a water cooler an easy way to grip and control the bottle, helping the human avoid spilling the water while the bottle is being installed.

A battery pack has a plurality of batteries connected in series to provide a high voltage energy source and energy storage. The battery pack has a high voltage receptacle in which a high voltage harness is connected when power is to be distributed or stored. a cover guard prevents inadvertent access to the harness connector. The cover guard has integral therewith an electrical disconnect mechanism and latch mechanism which must be manipulated prior to exposing the harness connector. The disconnect mechanism eliminates the electrical connection of the batteries to a receptacle in which the harness connector is installed. The latch mechanism prevents removal of the cover guard prior to manual disconnection and also prevents reconnection prior to the cover guard being properly positioned.

High voltage guard with interlock

A battery pack for easy access to, and uniform cooling/heating of, the individual battery modules thereof. The pack comprises stackable housing parts (i.e., top and bottom) housing multiple tiers of battery modules supported by underlying trays having openings/holes therein aligned with gaps/spaces between adjacent battery modules through which cooling/heating air is uniformly flowed in parallel between the modules from an underlying plenum. The battery modules are compressively immobilized in the housing by resilient foam pads which bear down on the tops of the modules.

An electric vehicle battery pack including a plurality of batteries ganged together in an underlying tray. The tray preferably has a plurality of pockets therein each for receiving an individual battery. The batteries are interlocked one to the next and held in place in the tray by a housing which bears down on the batteries by means of a resilient spacer positioned between the tops of the batteries and the ceiling of the housing. The pack forms a structural part of the vehicle in which it is used.

A nonmetallic container adapted for use as a tool or utility box in a pickup truck which is preferably unitarily constructed of linear high-density polyethylene and is adapted to fit both standard and compact pickup trucks.

A container adapted for use as a tool or utility box which is constructed to provide maximum flexibility in storing articles therein. The body of the container comprises side walls having inwardly directed ribs and ledge portions for slidably supporting a tray assembly. Smaller compartments may be formed within the interior of the container by using specially constructed dividers that cooperate with the inwardly directed ribs. The height of the dividers is less than the length of the side walls so that articles may be supported above the compartments formed by the dividers. Further, the construction of the container walls and tray assembly permits various sizes and types of articles to be stored and segregated within the container.
