A progressive deadlatching arrangement for a deadbolt lock prevents an external force applied on the deadbolt from retracting the deadbolt or otherwise compromising a secured door. The progressive deadlatching arrangement prevents external forces from retracting the deadbolt while still allowing an authorized user to operate the deadbolt. A deadbolt lock assembly comprising a retractable and extendable deadbolt, a housing, an outside member movably mounted on the housing, the member being normally disconnected from the deadbolt, and an operator input device on the housing, the device connecting the member to the deadbolt in response to presentation of an appropriate credential, such that a force applied to the member by the operator is mechanically transmitted to the deadbolt to move the deadbolt.

An override mechanism is for an electronic door lock assembly that includes a handle, a retractor and an electronic clutch mechanism with a movable coupler and an actuator. The coupler operatively connects the handle with the retractor when the coupler is located in an engaged position and the actuator is operable to displace the coupler between a nonengaged position and the engaged position. The override mechanism includes a movable override member configured to displace the clutch coupler between the nonengaged and engaged positions. The override member also retains the clutch coupler at the engaged position when the override member is disposed at an unlock position and prevents displacement of the coupler during actuator operation when the override member is disposed at a lockout position. Further, a manual drive, preferably including a cylinder lock, is configured to displace the override member between the unlock and lockout positions.

An actuator assembly is for a lock including a handle, a latch, a retractor for retracting the latch when the handle rotates, and a lock member displaceable between locked and unlocked positions, which either releasably couples the handle with the retractor or releasably prevents handle rotation. The actuator includes a motor having a shaft rotatable about an axis and a coupler spring disposed about the axis and having a first end coupled with the lock member and a second end. A drive member is coupled or integrally formed with the motor shaft and has a helical drive surface threadably engaged with the coupler spring second end, such that rotation of the shaft displaces the coupler spring along the axis to move the lock member between the locked and unlocked positions. Preferably, the drive member includes a spring coupled with the motor shaft and threadably engaged with the coupler spring.

A lock system for a door. The lock system includes a clutch mechanism and a lockset with a lockable latch and actuator for operating the latch. The clutch mechanism includes an input cam, an output cam, and an engagement pin having an axis and being dimensioned and configured for axial movement between a first position, in which the engagement pin engages both the input and output cams so that the input and output cams rotate synchronously, and a second position, which allows independent rotational movement of the input cam and the output cam.

Override assembly for door lock systems having a clutch mechanism

A modular electronic door security system includes an input device, a control module and an electro-mechanical lockset mounted to a door configured to facilitate electrical interconnections interiorly of the door. The input device and/or control module may be mounted in a user defined location on the surface of the door. An optional override mechanism allows access to secured areas in the event of system failure or emergency.

An exit bar employs a dual action latch retractor comprising a slotted link which connects manual and electrically actuated latch retraction means. The slot permits the latch to be retracted by a solenoid latch retractor regardless of the position of the push bar or other manual latch retraction means. A buffer spring transmits energy from the solenoid latch retractor to the push pad so that under normal circumstances actuation of the solenoid latch retractor retracts both the latch and push pad. However, if the push pad is jammed in the projected position, the buffer spring is compressed to permit relative movement between the solenoid latch retractor and the manual latch retraction mechanism. As soon as the force holding the push pad in an extended position is removed, the energy stored in the buffer spring is applied to the push pad through the mechanical linkage to retract the push pad.

An exit bar for securing a door has a housing assembly adapted for mounting to a door. A push pad for receiving a push force is mounted to the housing assembly. A latch is pivotable relative to the housing assembly to releasably latch the door to which the exit bar is mounted. A mechanical retraction system links the push bar to the latch so that a push force exerted on the push pad releases the latch. A selectively operable electromagnet is disposed within the housing assembly. An electromagnetic retraction system links the electromagnet to the latch independently of the mechanical retraction system so that selective operation of the electromagnet retracts the latch. The electromagnet further dogs the electromagnetic retraction system, and thereby the latch, in the retracted condition as long as the electromagnet receives power. The push bar and mechanical retraction system may be dogged by the electromagnet upon the first exertion of a push force thereon.

An electronic door security system employs an input console having two readers for enhanced security. A microprocessor processes inputs applied at each of the readers to selectively permit access through a secured door. Application of an input to either reader transforms the controller to a power-up mode.

Multiple access electronic lock system

An exit bar for securing a door has a housing adapted for mounting to a door. A push pad for receiving a push force is mounted to the housing. A latch extends from the housing to releasably latch the door to which the exit bar is mounted. A link system links the push pad to the latch so that a push force exerted on the push pad releases the latch. An electromagnetic lock disposed in the housing locks the link system to prevent releasing of the latch. The electromagnetic lock employs an electromagnet and a movable armature to lock the link system. The exit bar further delays unlocking the link system for a preestablished delay time after the push pad has been pushed.

An impact resistant armature has an armature plate defining a stepped bore therethrough. The stepped bore defines a shoulder. A mounting assembly having an expanded head portion and a reduced shank portion is positioned in the bore, with the shank portion anchored to the vertical face of a door. The mounting assembly supports the armature assembly in a first position wherein the head portion and the shoulder define an initial gap. Upon impact by an intense force, the armature plate is movable to a second position wherein the head portion and the shoulder engage while the armature retains a bonded relationship with the electromagnet.
