A restraint system is disclosed for securing a passenger to a seat in a motor vehicle. The restraint system is composed of a four point restraint belt removably attached to a vehicle seat having a plurality of vertical straps and attachment mechanisms for connecting said straps across the passenger's chest and lap. Each of the vertical straps has a first end removably attached to latches located in the front of the seat back and a second end removably attached to a latch located behind the vehicle seat.

Four point seat restraint system

A restraint system is disclosed for securing a passenger to a seat in a motor vehicle. The restraint system is composed of a restraint belt removably attached to a vehicle seat having a plurality of vertical straps and an attachment mechanism for connecting said straps across the passenger's chest. Each of the vertical straps has a first end removably attached to a lap belt and a second end removably attached to a latch located behind the vehicle seat.

A seat assembly includes a frame operably attached to a vehicle. A seat bottom is operably attached to the frame. The seat bottom is repositionable between a seating position and a stowed position. A seat back is operably attached to the frame. The seat back is repositionable between a seating position and a stowed position. The seat back rotates about a longitudinal axis during repositioning of the seat back between the seating and the stowed positions. A method of repositioning the seat assemblies includes repositioning a seat bottom between a seating position and a stowed position, and repositioning a seat back between a seating position and a stowed position about a longitudinal axis. Another seat assembly includes a seat bottom operably attached to the frame with at least one pivoting link and at least one sliding link. The seat bottom is repositionable between a seating position and an elevated position.

Repositionable seat assembly for a vehicle and a method of operating the same

A storage system is provided for a motor vehicle seat having a seat bottom, the storage system having a pivot rod assembly pivotally attached to the floor of the vehicle at a lower pivot axis by a floor mounting assembly, a storage bin assembly removably secured to a front edge of the seat bottom and pivotally attached to the pivot rod assembly at an upper pivot axis. When a torque load force is placed on the pivot rod assembly about the upper and lower pivot axes the storage bin assembly is biased against the front edge of the seat bottom in a normal closed position. When the torque load force on the pivot rod assembly is overcome, the storage bin assembly moves into an open position.

Seat assembly having a storage system

A sun-visor is attached to slidably mounted extension rods and is stowed at least partially out of sight, above the headliner, when the sun-visor is not in use. When use of the sun-visor is desired, the sun-visor may be pulled out of the headliner to a position where it may be pivoted downward to block the upper portion of the windshield. A side window sun-visor is pivoted to the sun-visor frame and may be swung outward from the windshield sun-visor to a position where it blocks sun and glare from a side window.

A headrest assembly for a motor vehicle comprises a headrest pivotable between first and second positions. The first position is generally proximate a seatback, and the second position is generally proximate a side wall.

Horizontally pivoting headrest for motor vehicle

A seat assembly for a motor vehicle comprises a seat cushion frame, a seatback, and a leg. The seat cushion frame has an outboard end pivotally mounted to a fixed support proximate a side wall of the vehicle, and the seatback is pivotally connected to the seat cushion frame. The leg is pivotally mounted to the inboard end of the seat cushion frame and includes a latch mechanism for securing to the vehicle floor. A brace is pivotally connected to the leg and to the fixed support proximate the side wall, so that the seat cushion frame, leg, brace and fixed support act a parallel linkage to move as a unit from a use position to a stowed position of the seat assembly. The assembly is held in the stowed position by a pin that engages the brace to prevent its pivoting relative to the fixed support.

An active vehicle front structure for energy management including a bumper movable from a retracted position during low speed maneuvering and parking to an extended position during operation of the vehicle over a pre-defined threshold speed. The bumper in the extended position serves to extend the crumple zone, reducing overall vehicle damage, and to increase the time over which vehicle decelerates during a collision, reducing the likelihood and severity of injuries to occupants of the vehicle.

A headrest assembly comprises a headrest pivotable from a first position to a second position. In the first position, the headrest is generally proximate a seatback of the motor vehicle. In the second position, the headrest is generally proximate a headliner of the motor vehicle.

A motor vehicle seat frame assembly has a headrest movable between an extended position and a retracted position. The frame assembly comprises a seatback frame operatively engaged with the headrest, the seatback frame being pivotable from a use position to a lowered position. A sun gear is fixed against rotation relative to the motor vehicle, and a planet gear is attached to the seatback frame and rotatably engaged with the sun gear. The planet gear is operatively engaged with the headrest to extend and to retract the headrest as the planet gear rotates about the sun ge.

A motor vehicle seat frame assembly for moving a headrest between an extended position and a retracted position as the frame assembly pivots. The frame assembly comprises a seatback frame operatively engaged with the headrest, and a bar having first and second ends. The seatback frame is pivotable from a use position about a first pivot that is fixed with respect to the vehicle. The first end of the bar is pivotably connected to a second pivot that is fixed with respect to the vehicle, and the second end of the bar is attached to the headrest such that the headrest moves from the extended position toward the retracted position as the seatback frame is pivoted from the use position.

A seat assembly for a motor vehicle including at least one J-shaped bracket movable toward and away from a front of the vehicle, a pivot rod engaging the at least one J-shaped bracket, and a seat cushion frame connected to the at least one J-shaped bracket. At least one link is attached to the seat frame and attached to the floor of the vehicle, and at least one guide bracket is mounted to the vehicle floor. The guide bracket has an arcuate slot engagable with the pivot rod as the J-shaped bracket moves toward the front of the vehicle to pivot the J-shaped bracket.

A motor vehicle seat frame assembly has a headrest movable between an extended position and a retracted position. The frame assembly comprises a seatback frame operatively engaged with the headrest, a cable, and a rod having an extension. The seatback frame is pivotable from a use position to a lowered position, while the cable extends between the headrest and a fixed point. A tensioner is attached to the seatback frame, and is adapted to wind the cable on the extension when the seatback frame is pivoted toward the lowered position.

Cable actuator for retractable headrest

The present invention provides a roll top seat assembly structure that is slidable between an active position and an inactive position. In the active position, the seat assembly is slid along opposing tracks located on either side of a vehicle's interior sides to form a fully functioning rear seat equipped with head rests and seat belts. In the inactive position, the roll top seat assembly is slid along the opposing tracks to stow flat along the cargo floor of the vehicle's interior, thereby providing the entire area with cargo room.

Self stowing seat

An adjustable pedal apparatus for a motor vehicle. The apparatus includes a pedal that can be translated in a longitudinal fashion parallel to the vehicle floor. The pedal is translated by use of a screw that is threadedly attached to the pedal and also pivotally attached to a motion linkage. The position and movement of the motion linkage is uniform irrespective of the longitudinal position of the pedal. The pedal includes a pivot pin that is received by a slot formed in a body structure; translation of the pedal along screw causes longitudinal movement of the pivot pin the said slot. The pivot pin is free to translate within said slot while the pedal is not depressed, when the pedal is depressed the pivot pin becomes fixed longitudinally by a camming formation and locking element arrangement. This allows depression of the pedal to cause the pedal to pivot about the pivot pin.
