An expandable inter-body fusion device is presented. The expandable inter-body fusion device can have a first plate, a second plate, and an insert positioned substantially therebetween the first plate and the second plate. The first plate, the second plate, and the insert define an interior cavity. Moving the insert longitudinally with respect to the first and second plates increases or decreases the distance of the first plate with respect to the second plate, effectively expanding the inter-body fusion device and increasing the volume of the interior cavity.

Expandable inter-body fusion devices and methods

A system for facilitating the removal of a prosthetic hip implant from a femur. The explant system has at least one blade coupled to a handle. The shape of the blade conforms to a portion of the implant so that a cutting tip of the blade can be positioned in a desired position relative to the implant and the femur. A plurality of blades can be provided, each blade configured to conform to a different portion of the implant. Force is applied to the handle so that the cutting tip of the blade cuts through bone growth from the femur into the implant, thereby facilitating removal of the implant.

An expandable curved inter-body fusion device is presented. The expandable curved inter-body fusion device can have a first plate, a second plate, and an insert positioned substantially therebetween the first plate and the second plate. The first plate, the second plate, and the insert define an interior cavity. Moving the insert longitudinally with respect to the first and second plates increases or decreases the distance of the first plate with respect to the second plate, effectively expanding the inter-body fusion device and increasing the volume of the interior cavity.

Embodiments of the present invention are directed toward a system of apparatuses to correct spinal deformities along with associated surgical techniques. The apparatuses comprise passages or channels in which spinal rods of differing diameters may be secured to allow a surgeon to vary the diameter of rods used along the length of the spine. Additionally, embodiments of the present invention are directed toward instrumentation for reduction of spinal rods into spinal pedicle screws.

An expandable vertebral body replacement is presented. The device has an inner and outer housing longitudinally moveable on one-another which locks in place using a retention member. This can be locked or fortified by several described options. Also presented is a method for expanding said device embodiments and a system for an expandable vertebral body replacement.

Expandable vertebral body replacement device, system, and methods

Anchor towers useful in the alteration of a position of an item connected to an anchor are described. An anchor tower includes an inner sleeve and an outer sleeve disposed over and operably connected to the inner sleeve such that movement of the outer sleeve results in movement of the inner sleeve. A groove is disposed on the inner sleeve and an inwardly-extending projection is disposed on the outer sleeve. Relative movement between the inner and outer sleeves results in movement of the projection within the groove. This movement can produce desired movement of a portion of the inner sleeve, such as a distal arm, based on a structural configuration of the groove.

An exemplary spinal rod insertion tool comprises a handle, a main body connected to the handle, a rod engaging member disposed within an inner passageway defined by the main body and adapted to move from an extended position to a chambered position in which the rod engaging member distal end is disposed within the inner passageway, and an adjustment mechanism operably connected to the rod engaging member and adapted to cause movement of the rod engaging member from the extended position to the chambered position.
