A stormwater treatment system includes water treatment media that defines a helical flow path within a conduit. The water treatment media may include a plurality of helical water treatment media components that are constructed and arranged to seal against an inside surface of the conduit. The individual helical water treatment media components may be installed in situ within the conduit when the conduit is positioned within a chamber having an access opening, and periodically removed and replaced by passing the components to the access opening. The components further may have a flexible frame, which allows the water treatment media to dynamically adjust to swelling of the filtration media and other forces that may occur during use. The performance of the system may be adjusted by adjusting the helical pitch of the helical water treatment media components.

Stormwater treatment system

A system for treating runoff water from a plastic container includes a tray having at least one drainage hole defined in a lower surface thereof. Remediation media is positioned within the tray for absorbing at least one nutrient from the runoff water. A container support member may be connected to the tray for supporting a number of potted plants above the space within the tray that is occupied by the remediation media.

A method of mounting a grate adapter unit beneath a stormwater collection grate includes steps of providing a grate adapter unit having a plurality of outwardly extending mounting flanges, each mounting flange being adapted to fit a different size commercially common stormwater collection grate. The grate adapter unit is trimmed, either at the factory, at the contractor's facilities or at the installation site, at the desired location to select a desired one of the mounting flanges that is appropriate for the collection grate to which the grate adapter is being fit. The grate adapter unit is then mounted beneath the stormwater collection grate using the selected mounting flange. A stormwater remediation unit may be pre-mounted to a lower end of the grate adapter unit or mounted to the lower end after installation.

A storm sewer insert for use in a storm water drainage system includes a collection basin that has an upper inlet opening, a lower outlet opening and at least one overflow bypass opening defined therein. A filter assembly is preferably positioned in the lower opening of the collection basin for filtering storm water that is held in the collection basin. Advantageously, adjustable mounting structure is provided for mounting the collection basin to an inlet opening of a storm sewer or catch basin. In addition, a mosquito barrier is preferably provided for reducing mosquito passage through the bypass opening.

Storm sewer insert for filtering and treating stormwater

A storm sewer insert includes a mounting assembly that is constructed and arranged to be mounted to a storm sewer system and a filter bag that is fabricated from a mesh material. The filter bag is releasably attached to the mounting assembly by a plurality of suspension elements that suspend the filter bag from the mounting assembly. The storm sewer insert may be provided with a covered bypass system for permitting excess storm water to bypass the filter bag in a manner that will facilitate the capture of floatable material that may be contained within the excess storm water.

An insert for a storm water treatment system includes an elongated baffle member that is configured to be mounted within a substantially upright storm water drain basin so as to separate the interior space of the drain basin into a first compartment that communicates with an inlet opening of the drain basin and a second compartment that communicates with an outlet opening of the drain basin. A predetermined primary flow path is defined in the baffle number between the first and second compartments near a lower end of the baffle member. Treatment material is positioned, optionally in cartridge form, in a lower end of the second compartment so that storm water in the primary flow path will be directed through the treatment material in order to remediate possible contamination of the storm water. The system is designed in order to facilitate retrofitting of existing storm water drainage infrastructure and for original installation. A method of treating storm water is also disclosed.

Process for treating storm water

A system for treating storm water in situ within a storm water drainage system includes a process chamber and treatment material that is contained within the process chamber. Preferably, the treatment material is a material that is effective in removing heavy metals from storm water, such as zeolite. A first passageway is provided for admitting storm water from the storm water drainage system into the process chamber. A second passageway is provided for returning storm water from the process chamber back to the storm water drainage system. Also disclosed is a method of retrofitting conventional storm water drainage systems so as to render them capable of effectively removing heavy metals from storm water passing therethrough.
