A dispensing apparatus and method are disclosed for dispensing sheet material from at least one roll of the sheet material. Dispensing is transferred from a stub roll to a reserve roll automatically in response to sensing a predetermined quantity of the stub roll. An isolating element is provided to lift the reserve roll out of contact with dispensing rollers during dispensing of sheet material from the stub roll, and a nipping element is provided to nip sheet material of the reserve roll when dispensing is transferred from the stub roll to the reserve roll. A cam controls movement of both the isolating element and the nipping element. Structure is also provided for sensing the diameter of the reserve roll of sheet material and providing an indication when the reserve roll is a predetermined diameter. The dispenser is quiet and capacity efficient.

Sheet material dispensing apparatus and method

A humidifier including a base defining a reservoir for liquid; a humidification mechanism for inducing dispersion of moisture withdrawn from the reservoir; a liquid storage tank having an outlet communicating with the reservoir and adapted to feed liquid thereto; and a container retaining a volume of a liquid treatment substance and defining a discharge opening communicating with the storage tank. Also included is an actuator mechanism operable to induce the discharge of a given dose portion of the treatment substance through the discharge opening into the storage tank.

A humidifier including a housing defining an air inlet, an air outlet, an air flow path between the inlet and outlet and a liquid reservoir; a blower system for producing air flow between the inlet and the outlet; and a retainer removably mounted in the housing and shaped and arranged to support a liquid absorbent evaporator pad in the air flow path. Also included is an ejector mechanism movable relative to the retainer and operable to eject the evaporator pad from the retainer means. The ejector mechanism simplifies replacement of a dirt clogged evaporator pad.

An evaporative humidifier including a portable housing defining an air inlet, an air outlet, an air flow path between the inlet and the outlet, and a liquid reservoir; a blower system including a fan blade for producing air flow through the path between the inlet and the outlet; and a liquid absorbent evaporator pad disposed above the reservoir and in the path between the inlet and the outlet; the pad being a hollow cylinder and having a top surface, a bottom surface, and radially spaced apart cylindrical and coaxial inner and outer surfaces; and wherein the air flow path includes an axial section at least partially defined by the inner surface, and a transverse section communicating with the outer surface. Also included is a liquid distribution system for circulating liquid from the reservoir to the top surface of the pad and having a conical centrifugal pump extending co-axially through the hollow cylinder and defining a lower orifice disposed in the reservoir and an upper orifice disposed above the top surface; and passage means providing liquid communication between the vessel and a chamber enclosing the upper orifice; and an electric motor having a shaft rotatably coupled to the cone member and the fan blade.

Evaporative humidifier with liquid distribution system

An appliance includes a housing defining an air inlet and an air outlet facing opposite to the air inlet, an inlet detector for detecting objects in an inlet zone projecting away from the inlet and an outlet detector for detecting objects in an outlet zone projecting away from the outlet. Also included is a control for deactivating the appliance in response to detection of objects in either of the inlet or outlet zones.

A portable vaporizer including a base, a steam stack which includes a baffle and a cup for retaining a liquid, a vented collar, a steam cap and a boiling chamber. The boiling chamber includes a heating element adapted to vaporize a liquid received therein. The vapor exiting the boiling chamber rises through a plurality of openings in the vented collar and mixes with ambient air drawn in through a second set of openings, resulting in a temperature drop in the vapor. The mixture hits the baffle, thus breaking the fluid stream into smaller streams, resulting in a further reduction in the vapor temperature. Consequently, the vapor leaving the vaporizer is at a lower temperature than that discharged from the boiling chamber.
