A pharmaceutical composition for anti-viral cancer treatment in mammals, comprising a therapeutically effective amount of Anisomelic acid or salts thereof. The pharmaceutical composition may comprise Anisomelic acid or salt thereof in an oil-in-water emulsion, for example in an isotropic mixture of at least one oil and at least one surfactant or, alternatively, in a hydrophilic solvent and a co-solvents or surfactant or a combination thereof. A method of treating or preventing of cancer in a mammal, wherein the p53 pathway is deregulated by viral oncoproteins, is also provided.

Pharmaceutical compositions of Anisomelic acid and the use thereof

The invention is based on a finding that silencing PME-1 gene sensitizes cancer cells for apoptosis-inducing activity of certain small molecule chemotherapeutic agents. Thus, the invention is directed to a respective combination therapy, sensitization method and pharmaceutical compositions.

Pharmaceutical compositions of anisomelic acid and the use thereof

Therapeutic compositions comprising at least one 8-substituted-dibenzylbutyrolactone lignan, preferably a lignan is selected from the group of nortrachelogenin, diasteromeric forms of nortrachelogenin, isomeric forms of nortrachelogenin and combinations thereof as well as 8-methylmatairesinol and 8-methyldimethylmatairesinol, for use in a method of treating cancer or a similar condition wherein the growth factor signaling pathway of a mammal is deregulated. The invention also provides therapeutic pharmaceutical combinations comprising a hydroxy-dibenzylbutyrolactone lignan and at least one TRAIL receptor agonist. The hydroxy-dibenzylbutyrolactone lignans and a TRAIL receptor agonist can be used as a combined preparation for administration to a patient simultaneously, separately or spaced out over a period of time in treating cancer.

Pharmaceutical compositions comprising 8-substituted dibenzylbutyrolactone lignans

The invention relates to a method of inhibiting myeloperoxidase activity in neutrophils in an individual by administering to the individual an effective amount of a lignan, where said lignan is enterolactone. The invention is further directed to a method inhibiting myeloperoxidase activity or oxidative burst of macrophages in an individual by administering to the individual an effective amount of a lignan where said lignan is enterolactone or hydroxymatairesinol or a mixture. Finally, the invention is directed to a method of inhibiting oxidative burst or myeloperoxidase activity in neutrophils in an individual by administering to the individual an effective amount of a lignan which is hydroxymatairesinol.
