Methods for forming data storage media and the media formed thereby are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the method for forming a data storage media, comprises: injection molding a substrate comprising surface features, wherein said surface features have greater than about 90% of a surface feature replication of an original master; and disposing a data layer over at least one surface of said substrate; wherein said data storage media has an axial displacement peak of less than about 500&#x3bc; under shock or vibration excitation.

Disclosed herein is a method for enhancing process control. Disclosed herein is a method for enhancing process control including initiating a manufacturing process to create a product. The initiating includes setting a control on a machine in response to an initial system model. The manufacturing process is tuned in response to the initial system model. The tuning includes running the machine in response to the initial system model, monitoring a primary output parameter of the product and performing an adaptation process while the manufacturing machine is running. The adaptation process includes adjusting the control on the machine, updating the initial system model to define an updated system model in response to adjusting the control and running said machine in response to said updated system model. Additional embodiments include a system and a storage medium for enhancing process control.

Method, system and storage medium for enhancing process control

In one embodiment, the method far embossing a substrate, includes: heating a first substrate to a temperature above a glass transition temperature; preheating and maintaining a mold at a mold temperature below the glass transition temperature; introducing the heated substrate to the preheated mold; compressing the heated substrate in the mold; cooling the compressed substrate; and removing the cooled substrate from the mold. In another embodiment, the method for embossing a substrate, includes: heating a first substrate to a temperature above a substrate surface glass transition temperature; preheating a mold to a mold temperature of up to about 30&deg; C. above the substrate surface glass transition temperature; introducing the heated substrate to the preheated mold; compressing the heated substrate in the mold; cooling the compressed substrate; and removing the cooled substrate from the mold.
