The adjustable saw horse according to the present invention has a wooden cross beam securely attached within a U-shaped aluminum channel which extends for substantially the length of the wooden cross beam. The cross beam has two supports, one at each longitudinal end of the cross beam, each support having an A-frame shape as the saw horse beam is viewed from an end. Each support consists of a pair of telescoping legs pivotally mounted to brackets on the sides of the aluminum channel, and a brace which is adjustable in length between the pair of legs. Each leg is hollow, tubular, and square in cross section. Each leg has a foot pivotally mounted thereon, the foot having a serrated edge adapted for penetrating the ground in order to firmly anchor the saw horse on sloping ground. The height of the saw horse may be adjusted between thirty-six and seventy-two inches. The saw horse is appropriate for use as a small scaffolding as well as a trestle for general carpentry work.

Adjustable saw horse

An insert for supporting a double ended needle during a blood collection procedure is translatably mounted within a cylinder for retracting the anterior needle into the cylinder on completion of the procedure to prevent needle stick while the posterior needle remains continually shielded against needle stick by the insert. An anterior lock position stabilizes the double ended needle during the blood collection procedure and a posterior lock position retains both ends of the needle shielded. A ramp may be associated with the posterior lock position to prevent further translation of the insert and reuse of the holder. For a reusable holder embodiment, the used double ended needle is retracted, safely enclosed and locked inside the cylinder. The anterior end of the cylinder is adapted for receiving the open end of a conventional needle shield to permit gripping of the needle supporting hub and disengagement of the needle from the insert without exposure to needle stick. A replacement needle may then be mounted in the insert and the holder reused.

Blood collection tube holder

A receptacle includes a first recess for receiving the anterior end of the barrel of a conventional double ended needle blood collection tube holder to stabilize the holder during threaded disengagement of the needle. A post is disposed within the recess to prevent rotation of the hub while the holder is rotated to unthread the hub. Upon threaded disengagement, the needle drops into the receptacle, which drop may be augmented by a pair of leaf springs. A second recess in the receptacle receives the collar of a guard supporting a translatable blood collection tube holder, which holder threadedly engages the hub of a double ended needle. A post within the recess can extend within the collar to engage a rib of the hub to prevent rotation of the double ended needle upon rotation of the guard to threadedly disengage the hub from the holder. Upon threaded disengagement, the double ended needle drops into the receptacle, which drop may be augmented by a pair of leaf springs.

Disposal for disengaging and receiving needles

A post within the recess can extend within the collar to engage with a slot a rib of the hub to prevent rotation of the double ended needle upon rotation of the guard to threadedly disengage the hub from the holder. Upon threaded disengagement, the double ended needle drops into the receptacle, which drop may be augmented by a leaf spring.

Disposal for needles and syringes

A security system is provided for locking ski equipment, including skis and ski poles, to each other and to a fixed anchor, the security system being part of the ski pole equipment itself. This is accomplished using a ski pole with a handle which carries a locking mechanism, and a hollow shaft which carries a flexible security line. The locking mechanism includes a double locking system which prevents release of the security line until both a first lock (preferably of the combination type) and an integrated second mechanical lock have both been positively activated by the user. The locks are designed and located for easy access and are positively controlled to release or limit the movement of the security line, preferably without a separate key. The flexible security line which is held in the shaft of the pole is capable of being removed from the shaft to form a security loop by which the pole and other articles strung on or encircled within the security loop may be connected to a fixed anchor in order that falling, movement and theft of the pole and other strung on or encircled articles can be avoided.

Ski security system

A clip-on book end which includes a clip-on base portion connected at an offset location to the bottom corner of a book support portion with the two portions formed as a one-piece molded plastic unit. The clip-on base portion has a resilient clip section opposite and in spaced relation to a bottom surface of the support defining a shelf-receiving passage with an opening at one end through which the end portion of a bookshelf is passed and received with the resilient clip section spreading apart to accommodate shelves of different thicknesses. The clip section has a gripping surface opposite a surface extending along the bottom of the support portion which is constructed and arranged such that laterally directed side loads on the book support portion, as would occur with a tipped row of books, tend to bind the base portion to the bookshelf and maintain the book end in an upright position. In addition, the support portion has a width in relation to its thickness that prevents the exposed pages of a book from being damaged by jamming a book into the support portion during reshelving. The clip-on base portion forms a U-shaped passage that may house the depending edge wall and flange of a metal book shelf while permitting the clip section to close snugly on the much thinner sheet material of the main shelf area. Flanges of differing length are accommodated by removal or replacement of an insert at the lower edge of the U-shaped passage mouth.
