While managing private data in cognitive surveys, a method, system, and computer program product may deploy a set of gather agents. Access credentials for a plurality of participants may be obtained from an encrypted data store and verified. The set of gather agents may gather a set of target data associated with the plurality of participants, and the set of target data may be collected according to a set of policy criteria. It may be determined whether one or more participants of the plurality of participants has requested to review a subset of the target data, and those participants may be prompted to review the subset of target data. It may be determined whether the one or more participants rejected the subset of target data. The subset of target data may be filtered, and the filtered subset of target data may be posted to a results database.

Cognitive survey policy management

Denial-of-service attacks are prevented or mitigated in a cloud compute environment, such as a multi-tenant, collaborative SaaS system. This is achieved by providing a mechanism by which characterization of 'legitimate' behavior is defined for accessor classes, preferably along with actions to be taken in the event an accessor exceeds those limits. A set of accessor 'usage profiles' are generated. Typically, a profile comprises information, such as a &#x201c;request time window,&#x201d; one or more &#x201c;constraints,&#x201d; and one or more &#x201c;actions.&#x201d; A request time window defines a time period over which request usage is accumulated and over which constraints are applied. A constraint may be of various types (e.g., number of transactions, defined resource usage limits, etc.) to be applied for the usage monitoring An action defines how the system will respond if a particular constraint is triggered. By applying the constraints to accessor requests, over-utilization of compute resources is enabled.

Preventing application-level denial-of-service in a multi-tenant system

Denial-of-service attacks are prevented or mitigated in a cloud compute environment, such as a multi-tenant, collaborative SaaS system. This is achieved by providing a mechanism by which characterization of 'legitimate' behavior is defined for tenant applications or application classes, preferably along with actions to be taken in the event a request to execute an application is anticipated to exceed defined workflow limits. A set of application profiles are generated. Typically, a profile comprises information, such as a request defined by one or more request variables, one or more 'constraints,' one or more &#x201c;request mappings,&#x201d; and one or more &#x201c;actions.&#x201d; A constraint is a maximum permitted workload for the application. A request mapping maps a request variable to the constraint, either directly or indirectly. The profile information defines how a request is mapped to a workload to determine whether the request is in policy or, if not, what action to take.

Pre-processing system for minimizing application-level denial-of-service in a multi-tenant system

Transaction storm detection includes receiving a series of transactions in a data stream for an authenticated network session. A detection engine determines whether the transactions form a transaction storm. In response to determining that the transactions are a transaction storm, metrics associated with the transaction storm are presented. One or more actions may be specified to be applied in a subsequently detected transaction storm.

Session-based server transaction storm controls

A transaction storm detection engine is configured to receive a series of transactions in a data stream for an authenticated network session. The detection engine determines whether the transactions form a transaction storm. In response to determining that the transactions are a transaction storm, metrics associated with the transaction storm are presented. One or more actions may be specified to be applied in a subsequently detected transaction storm.

A system that persistently maintains and exposes one or more previous object hierarchies to which an object belonged across one or more hierarchy destroying operations, such as operations that delete parent objects, add parent objects subsequent to addition of their descendent objects, forward objects to or from the hierarchy, and/or modify hierarchy determining rules. A user interface object allows user access to one or more persistent hierarchies for the corresponding object. A hierarchy list or the like allows a user to select a desired one of the persistent hierarchies. A persistent hierarchy can be accessed in the disclosed system through a display object associated with any object within the hierarchy, including the root, leaves, and any intervening objects. When objects are deleted, 'ghost' objects are maintained and displayed to the user in the hierarchical positions of the deleted objects when a persistent hierarchy is displayed.

Unique identifiers referred to as 'keys' are generated for objects stored on each node. When a container object including at least one embedded object is transferred from a sending node to a receiving node, the sending node sends the key uniquely identifying the embedded object to the receiving node to determine whether the embedded object is already stored on the receiving node. If the receiving node indicates that the embedded object is already stored at the receiving node, then the sending node determines that the embedded object does not need to be sent to the receiving node. In that case, if the embedded object has not been sent, the sending node does not send the embedded object. If the sending node has already started sending the embedded object, then the sending node terminates sending of the embedded object.

Preventing transfer and duplication of redundantly referenced objects across nodes of an application system

A method for processing data in a knowledge management system gathers information content and transmits a work request for the information content gathered. The information content may be registered with a K-map and assigned a unique document identifier. A work queue processes the work requests. The processed information may then be transmitted to another work queue for further processing. Further processing may include categorization, full-text indexing, metrics extraction or other process. Control messages may be transmitted to one or more users providing a status of the work request. The information may be analyzed and further indexed. A progress statistics report may be generated for each of the processes performed on the document. The progress statistics may be provided in a record. A shared access to a central data structure representing the metrics history and taxonomy may be provided for all work queues via a CORBA service.

Method for distributing services for knowledge management processing

Summary information for documents are stored as entries in a table in a relational database. Each entry includes a unique identifier, value(s) for a set of attributes and rendering information for the corresponding document. A collation order is obtained that defines a sort order for the documents based on the set of attributes. An index is generated based on the collation order and includes the rendering information for each document. In response to a rendering request or other query, a query that uses index-only access for the summary table can be used to obtain the rendering information. Further, a set of marker values can be included to provide efficient navigation of the index. Still further, additional functionality can be included to display the documents in a hierarchical structure. To this extent, the invention can automatically re-categorize data when the child locations of a hierarchical location exceed a specified number and/or link other relational data to a hierarchical location.

Method, system and program product for managing document summary information

Under the present invention, a history of requests for data objects are tracked and maintained in a cache log. Based on the history, certain data objects are prefetched into a cache. When a request for a cached data object is later received, the requested data object can be retrieved from the cache and served to the requesting user. Thus, the latency involved with obtaining the data objects from the appropriate sources is eliminated. Further, under the present invention, discard and refresh rules are assigned to each data object on a class basis. Accordingly, data objects in the cache can be refreshed and/or discarded so that the caching operation can be optimized.
