A pump for use in a hydraulic fracturing system, the pump including a conical packing sleeve including a tapered segment adjacent a pump insertion side a pilot and sealing segment adjacent and contiguous with the tapered segment and an attachment segment adjacent and contiguous with the pilot and sealing segment and adjacent a pump removal side. Methods of installing, removing and replacing the sleeve are also disclosed.

A packing sleeve for a pump fluid end. The packing sleeve comprising a tubular body having a first end, a second end, and a total axial length along a center axis extending from the first end to the second end; the tubular body further comprises a first region that is adjacent to the first end, wherein the first region extends away from the first end a first axial distance and a second region that is adjacent to the second end, wherein the second region extends away from the second end a second axial distance and abuts the first region, wherein the first axial distance and the second axial distance equal the total axial length and wherein the first axial distance comprises about 35-70% of the total axial length.

Examples of a two-piece guide bushing apparatus are provided. A specific example comprises a guide bushing base comprising flanges which extend into the interior of the guide bushing base, and a guide bushing center comprising a spring clip. The guide bushing center is coupled to the guide bushing base and configured to be removable from the guide bushing base.

Examples of a removal tool for a two-piece guide bushing are provided. A specific example comprises a handle, a cap coupled to the handle, the cap comprising arced slots; and a raised boss coupled to the cap, the raised boss configured to fit over the stem guide of a two-piece guide bushing. The guide bushing removal tool may be coupled to a two-piece guide bushing and the guide bushing removal tool may be configured such that rotation of the handle releases the guide bushing center of the two-piece guide bushing.

A pump fluid end includes a body that defines a plunger bore and a working fluid bore that intersects the plunger bore to form a cross bore. A packing bore is defined in the plunger bore and includes a packing sleeve bore, a taper relief bore, and a transition bore. The packing sleeve bore transitions to the taper relief bore at a radial shoulder and the taper relief bore transitions to the plunger bore across the transition bore. The transition bore extends between an external corner contiguous with the plunger bore and an internal corner contiguous with the taper relief bore and at least one of the external and internal corners is rounded and exhibits a radius. The packing bore is treated with a surface pre-stressing treatment.

Improving service life of pump fluid ends

Corrosion resistant alloys in fluid ends to prolong the life of a well service pump. Methods of using such corrosion resistant alloys that provide a fluid end that has a corrosion resistant alloy having a fatigue limit greater than or equal to the tensile stress on the fluid end at maximum working pressure in the fluid end for an aqueous-based fluid; installing the fluid end in a well service pump; and pumping the aqueous-based fluid through the fluid end.

Lubrication system for a reciprocating apparatus

A pump has a pump fluid end and a manifold that is detachable from the fluid end. A device is attachable to the pump, and has a manifold support beam portion adapted to affix to the pump fluid end at a location adjacent a manifold mating surface of the pump fluid end and extend outward from the pump fluid end. A support is provided on the manifold support beam portion that, when the manifold support beam portion is affixed to the fluid end of the pump, engages the manifold detached from the fluid end and supports the weight of the manifold.

A pumping system comprising a motor, wherein the motor has an operating speed, a pump coupled to the motor, wherein the pump has a volumetric displacement, a fluid end coupled to the pump, wherein the fluid end is operable to draw fluid from an input and provide fluid to an output, and a control system operable to regulate the motor and the pump in order to provide fluid to the output at a selected pressure and flow rate within a continuous range of pressures and flow rates between the peak horsepower output and peak torque output of the motor.
