Systems and methods enable an autonomous vehicle (AV) to self-recover or be remotely recovered if the AV is rendered immobilized, without requiring in-person retrieval or tow of the AV. Upon the occurrence of a non-nominal event, the AV performs a dynamic driving task fallback maneuver to achieve a minimal risk condition and secures its cabin. Based on the type and severity of the event, residual AV health, and passenger confirmation, escalating grades of recovery or retrieval are executed as needed to recover from the event and resume operation. Multiple AVs can be monitored simultaneously and addressed based on priority of AV state and recovery/retrieval state, resulting in more efficient fleet management.

An example direct current fast charger (DCFC) for providing asymmetrical charging power to electric vehicles can include a first power module having a rectifier and control electronics, and a second power module having a rectifier and control electronics. The first power module can be configured to receive a request to charge a battery of an electric vehicle (EV) at a specified charge rate; determine that the specified charge rate exceeds a maximum charge rate of the first power module; request additional power from the second power module; when the second power module has available power to donate, receive donated power from the second power module; and charge the battery of the EV at an increased charge rate that exceeds the maximum charge rate of the first power module, the increased charge rate including a maximum power output of the first power module increased by the donated power.

A remote system for an autonomous vehicle, includes a receiver, a controller, and a display device. The receiver is configured to receive road information. The controller is programmed to receive input related to the road information and create a supervision zone when the road information impacts road drivability. The display device is disposed at a control center area and configured to display a visual indication on a map of the supervision zone.

The receiver is configured to receive transmitted data from an autonomous vehicle related to status of the autonomous vehicle and information from a third party related to road conditions. The controller is programmed to monitor the transmitted data related to the status of the autonomous vehicle and the road conditions, determine when the autonomous vehicle requires assistance based on the transmitted data, and, when the autonomous vehicle requires assistance, cause information related to the autonomous vehicle to be displayed on the display device.
