Nozzle for guiding molten metal, including an inlet at an upstream first end, at least one outlet towards a downstream second end, and an inner surface between the inlet and the outlet defining a bore through the nozzle having a throat region adjacent the inlet. An annular channel is provided in the inner surface of the nozzle, and a fluid supply is arranged to introduce fluid into the bore via the annular channel or downstream thereof. The throat region has a convexly curved surface and the annular channel is located within or adjacent the convexly curved surface of the throat region.

A microphone adaptor for a respirator is provided which has a sound tube that extends between a speech projector of the respirator and a microphone enabling clear speech to be received by the microphone. The adaptor may include a microphone box for receiving the microphone, preferably a headset boom microphone of a standard issue headset.

A radio system comprises a radio having a transmit mode activated by a press to talk (PTT) switch mounted on a universal communication interface for mounting on a radio interface associated with the radio. The radio interface may or may not form part of the radio and a plurality of radio interfaces may be provided for different applications, such that a standard universal communication interface can be used with different types of equipment.

A radio system comprises a radio having a transmit mode. A press to talk (PTT) switch is located in a remote module having a transmitter that transmits a signal to a receiver associated with the radio. In response, the receiver opens a communication channel to the radio. The remote module enables the PTT switch to be located at a convenient location to the operator.
