A method for controlling a combined waveform, representing a combination of at least two signals having orthogonal frequency multiplexed signal components, comprising: receiving information defining the at least two signals; transforming the information defining each signal to a representation having orthogonal frequency multiplexed signal components, such that at least one signal has at least two alternate representations of the same information, and combining the transformed information using the at least two alternate representations, in at least two different ways, to define respectively different combinations; analyzing the respectively different combinations with respect to at least one criterion; and outputting a respective combined waveform or information defining the waveform, representing a selected combination of the transformed information from each of the at least two signals selected based on the analysis.

System and method for controlling combined radio signals

The present invention teaches a system and method for improved signal recovery for range and coverage extension in a heterogeneous cooperative network of digital chaos transmissions with OFDM component signal transmission. The invention improves upon the state of art in side channel information from the transmit side containing information on the clipped amplitude. In-band transmission of the side information is achieved by exploiting the sparsity of the resulting clip amplitude position with improved levels of compression over the prior art using Gabor Transform Multiple Symbol Encoding transmitter. The information rate of the clipped amplitude is sub-Nyquist relative to the original OFDM component signal transmission, which allows very low power spreading by a cooperative digital chaos sequences at a transmit side and recovery of the clipped amplitude at a receive side. Further, an improved noise resistance side channel performance is achieved by decoding Gabor Transform symbols for symbol recovery.

Method and apparatus for range and coverage extension in a heterogeneous digital chaos cooperative network

The present invention teaches method and apparatus to transform a featureless, unpredictable, and non-repeatable chaos waveform into digital chaos waveforms that maintain featureless characteristics to serve as a for wireless communications protocol, whereby unintended observers cannot detect or disrupt yet imprint a small measure of predictability and repeatability to aid intend observers in recovering embedded information.

Method and apparatus for communicating data in a digital chaos communication system

In an example implementation, communications between a downhole logging tool and surface computing subsystem can be provided through a cable that includes one or more electrical conductors. To allow multiple channels of data to be transmitted along a single multi-conductor cable, data can be divided into two or more different channels, and each channel of data can be transmitted along the conductors. Due to the length of the cable, the electrical conductors of the cable may be subject to strong capacitive and inductive coupling. As a consequence of this coupling, signals sent downhole along any two arbitrary conductors may be subject to distortion, and can produce significant 'crosstalk' on the other conductors. The effects of crosstalk can be reduced in a variety of ways, for example using QR decomposition.

A network manager or coordinator can update these scaled digital chaos samples during scheduled beacon frames to improvement network performance.

A method and system uses a constrained set of indexed samples to identify a next generation population of samples that exhibits a more desirable signal characteristic such as lower PAPR, out-of-band emission and error vector magnitude. The invention generates an intermediate set of indexed samples which are subjected to a fitness function and next generation calculations to produce next generation indexes for the next population of samples. The next generation indexes population of samples is further constrained over initial indexes for generating a more desirable signal characteristic. In dynamic spectrum access networks having OFDM components, the interference between collections of overlay and underlay signals is adaptively controlled based on the composite PAPR. In an example, the total out-of-band interference for the collection of overlay and underlay signals for all samples of the population are reduced.

The present invention teaches a system and method for secure network access and group membership in a cooperative network of digital chaos transmissions. The invention involves sensing generated digital chaos sequences as spreading sequences at a transmit side and determining the availability of open channels at a receive side. Further, a broadcast 'request to join' frame from a node on an open channel is transmitted to network manager or coordinator. A network manager or coordinator sends an association/authentication packet, comprised of the reserved digital chaos associated to the unique device id, in response to the 'request to join' frame from a node with a valid identification.
