A cable comprising a stress-bearing matrix extending substantially through the length of the cable; and a plurality of conducting elements extending substantially through the length of the cable, the plurality off the conducting elements being located within and spaced from one another by the stress-bearing matrix, wherein at least one of the plurality of conducting elements is in intimate contact with a low friction liner disposed about at least one of the plurality of conducting elements, and the at least one of the, conducting elements is longitudinally moveable relative to the stress-bearing matrix.

Combination cable and device

The invention relates to a device ( ) suitable for controlling a surface ( ) of an object ( ), notably with respect to raised areas on said surface ( ). The device ( ) comprises a light source ( ) for generating a light beam ( ) directed towards the surface as well as a light sensor ( ) for detecting light scattered by a raised area on the surface ( ). The light beam ( ) generated by the light source ( ) is configured so as to scan the surface ( ) in such a way that the raised area on the surface scatters the light beam ( ). If there is no raised area the light beam ( ) undergoes ideally no, or else only slight, changes. The light sensor ( ) is arranged in such a way that at least part of the scattered light can be detected. In this manner it is possible to detect, for example, impurities on uneven or structured surfaces.

Device and method for controlling the surface of an object

A cable comprising a stress-bearing matrix extending substantially through the length of the cable; and a plurality of conducting elements extending substantially through the length of the cable, the plurality of said conducting elements being located within and spaced from one another by said stress-bearing matrix, wherein at least one of the plurality of conducting elements is in intimate contact with a low friction liner disposed about the at least one of the plurality of conducting elements and the at least one of the conducting elements is longitudinally movable relative to the stress-bearing matrix.

Cable

An improved cable assembly is provided having a signal transmission core. A first jacket is disposed about the signal transmission core. A first strength member array is disposed about the first jacket. The strength member array is defined by at least two synthetic fibrous strength members which are each comprised of a plurality of filaments. Each strength member is disposed within an individual friction reducing layer. A second jacket is disposed about the strength member array.
