A system and method for controlling movement of a seat in a vehicle includes a lower seat assembly and an upper seat assembly adjustable relative to the lower seat assembly. An actuator assembly pivotally attached between the lower seat assembly and upper seat assembly selectively adjusts the upper seat assembly relative to the lower seat assembly between at least one upright position and at least one folded position. A control unit selectively actuates a motor and the actuator assembly to control movement of the upper seat assembly relative to the lower seat assembly. The control unit adjusts the position of the actuator assembly to releasably secure the motor in response to the position value detected by a sensor assembly to place the upper seat assembly in position relative to the lower seat assembly.

Vehicle seating system

A system and method for controlling movement of a seat in a vehicle includes first and second seating modules movable between an upright position and a folded position in response to actuation to at least one activation element. A control unit operably connected to the first and second seating modules is configured to receive input from the at least one activation element and generates a control signal to control movement of the first and second seating modules. The control unit deactivates movement of the second seating module until movement of the first seating module when the sensor assembly detects the error condition by the sensor assembly during adjustment of the seating modules.

System and method for controlling adjustment of vehicle seats

The present invention provides for an aroma-dispersing unit in the HVAC system of an automobile. The aroma-dispersing unit includes a passageway and an aroma cartridge housed in an aroma cartridge housing. The passageway includes a first portion, a low-pressure zone and a second portion. The low-pressure zone defines an opening. The aroma cartridge is in communication with the low-pressure zone. The aroma cartridge also defines an opening at the top of the aroma cartridge. The opening of the low-pressure zone and the opening of the aroma cartridge are alignable such that air passing through the low-pressure zone can extract aroma from the aroma cartridge. The aroma mixed air enters the second portion of the passageway where it is dispersed into the interior of the automobile. The amount of aroma extracted from the aroma cartridge can be varied by adjusting the proximity of the opening of the aroma cartridge relative to the opening of the low-pressure zone.

A temperature and humidity sensor assembly for a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system of a vehicle includes a housing for connection to the HVAC system. The temperature and humidity sensor also includes a humidity sensor disposed within the housing and a temperature sensor disposed within the housing. The temperature and humidity sensor further includes a circuit board disposed in the housing and electrically connected to the humidity sensor and the temperature sensor and for connection to an electronic controller to control the HVAC system.

A method of establishing a baseline filter for an air quality sensor in a motor vehicle includes the step of providing an air quality sensor for intake air into an occupant compartment of the motor vehicle. The method also includes the step of establishing a moving baseline for a background signal level from the air quality sensor. The method further includes the step of shutting off intake air into an occupant compartment of the motor vehicle when the background signal level exceeds a certain threshold above the moving baseline, thereby preventing undesired gases in the intake air from reaching occupants in the occupant compartment.

A method is provided of determining windshield fog secondary for automatically controlling a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system of a vehicle. The method includes the steps of determining whether rain is occurring on a windshield of a vehicle, determining a windshield parameter as a function of the rain occurring and determining a temperature difference based on temperature within a cabin of the vehicle and ambient temperature. The method also includes the steps of determining a fog boundary based on the windshield parameter and temperature difference, determining a relative humidity based on the windshield parameter and the temperature difference and fog boundary and determining a fog probability based on the fog boundary relative humidity and a nominal base relative humidity for rain conditions. The method further includes the steps of determining anti-fog actions to be taken based on the fog probability and taking the anti-fog actions determined to control the HVAC system.
