A splice closure contains multiple splice trays that can be individually pivoted and accessed so that the splice closure is capable of optimally carrying and providing access to numerous optical fibers and optical fiber splices. The splice closure has a housing defining an internal cavity and at least one opening to the internal cavity. An end cap is capable of occluding the opening of the housing to provide an enclosed configuration. A support frame has opposite front and rear ends, the front end of the support frame is connected to the end cap, and the support frame is capable of being positioned within the internal cavity of the housing during the enclosed configuration. The support frame extends in a longitudinal direction between the front and rear ends, and defines a frame axis that extends in the longitudinal direction. The multiple splice trays are pivotally carried by the support frame so that there are a plurality of axes of rotation that are generally parallel to the frame axis and about which the splice trays are respectively pivotable. Biasing mechanisms are operative for releasably holding the splice trays to the support frame.

An outlet cover assembly is described that provides a base portion with a face plate opening for two face plates that are removable from the base portion. One of the face plates has a jack opening for retaining a jack therein. A retaining hook assembly for the jack is provided by a first hook detail that located on the face plate and a second hook detail located on the cover panel. When the face plate is secured within the face plate opening, the first and second hook details become aligned opposite one another and are operable to selectively engage hook portions on the jack. Because each of the hook details are formed on separate components, neither component must be formed using a collapsible insert.

Devices and methods by which fiber optic connectors, and the adapters associated with them can be installed upon mounting surfaces. A termination block is described that retains a number of adapters to receive fiber optic cable connectors for interconnection and/or cross-connection with other connectors or switching equipment. The termination block has a mounting footprint that is substantially identical to the mounting footprint of an electrical punch-down block, thus permitting ease of retrofitting. Slider panels are retained within bays in a base unit to secure adapters within the base unit. The slider panels are individually moveable so that each can be slidingly withdrawn from its bay for better access to the adapter secured therewithin. In preferred embodiments, removable markers are affixed to individual slider panels and a removable cover is provided for the termination block. Methods for mounting and retrofitting termination blocks are also described.

Termination block for optical fiber cables

A strain relief bracket for use in conventional and modular furniture applications guards against excessive bending of copper and fiber optic cable. The device is a substantially rigid durable bracket that has an adhesive surface for adhesion to the interior of a furniture wall. The device is bi-planar, having a first section in a first plane, a raised flange section in a second plane, and a second section connecting the first section and raised flange section. A flange at the end of the first section secures the bracket to the edge of an opening in the furniture wall. Cables are secured to the bracket by cable ties that extend through holes provided on the raised flange section. The bi-planar arrangement of the bracket minimizes the bend radius of the cables and thereby strain relieves the cable, adapters, and connectors in the wall.

A connector sleeve assembly for an optical distribution frame has a connector sleeve that is capable of being angled relative to the splice tray on which it is installed to allow for easier access to one or both of the fiber optic connectors inserted into the sleeve. A panel also has a connector sleeve mounted in the plane of the panel, but capable of being angled out of the plane for easy access to the connectors inserted in the connector sleeve.
