Systems and methods for fabricating a dental aligner are provided. The system includes a computing system to receive and prepare a digital model of a dental aligner by adding one or more support structures to the digital model. The system includes a fabrication system to manufacture the dental aligner with the one or more support structures. The system includes a laser system to receive the fabricated dental aligner, orient the dental aligner relative to the laser system, and laser cut an interface between the support structures and the dental aligner to remove the one or more support structures from the dental aligner.

Systems and methods for trimming dental aligners include a cut line system for identifying a first point and a second point based on a line around tooth (LAT) for a tooth of a model representative of a dentition of a user, where the first point is disposed on a tooth-gingiva interface of the tooth. The cut line system defines a cut plane at a distance from the first point toward the second point, where the cut plane intersects a line between the first point and the second point, identifies a plurality of points on the LAT based on the cut plane, defines a cut line based on the plurality of points on the LAT and the first point, and controls a cutting system to cut the dental aligner along the cut line.

Systems and methods for intraoral device quality control

A model merging system merges the first 3D model and the second 3D model to generate a merged model of the dental arch.

A monitoring system includes a communications circuit and an analysis circuit where the communications circuit is configured to receive an image of a user from a social media system and receive orthodontic treatment plan data associated with the user from an aligner fabrication computer system. The analysis circuit is configured to determine an actual oral condition of the user at a time when the image of the user was taken, determine an expected oral condition of the user at the time when the image of the user was taken based on the orthodontic treatment plan data, compare the actual oral condition and the expected oral condition, and generate an output based on the comparison. The communications system communications the output to at least one of the user device and the aligner fabrication computer system.

A method for analyzing a quality of a dental aligner includes receiving, by a processor, a digital dental aligner generated based on a fabricated dental aligner, analyzing, by the processor, the digital dental aligner to identify a quality characteristic of the fabricated dental aligner, determining, by the processor, that the quality characteristic is anomalous, and flagging, by the processor, the fabricated dental aligner indicating that the fabricated dental aligner is rejected in response to determining that the quality characteristic is anomalous.

A system includes a heating system, a forming system, a conveyor system, and a plurality of thermoforming assemblies for supporting a dental mold and a thermoforming material. The heating system includes a first heater to heat the thermoforming material when proximate the first heater, a second heater configured to heat the thermoforming material when proximate the second heater, and a temperature sensor to detect a temperature of the thermoforming material when the thermoforming material is proximate either of the first heater and the second heater. The forming system includes an actuator and a pressure system to compress the heated thermoforming material to the dental mold. The conveyor system moves the plurality of thermoforming assemblies in a stepwise movement sequence from a loading area to the heating system, from the heating system to the forming system, and from the forming system to an unloading area.
