A projectile launching apparatus includes a linear motion converter driven by a motor, a piston coupled to the linear motion converter and reciprocally movable within a cylinder, a gas spring and a breech assembly. The piston, when actuated by the linear motion converter, may energize the gas spring, and after the gas spring is fully energized, the linear motion converter may release the piston. When the piston is released, the piston may compress a gas within the cylinder, which compressed gas may be communicated to a barrel of the breech assembly. The compressed gas may expand in the barrel of the breech assembly for launching a projectile that has been chambered in the barrel, with a high velocity.

Projectile launching apparatus

A powered caulking apparatus includes a power source, a motor, a drive gear, an extension tape, and a top roller guide and bottom roller guide. The tape includes extension tape slots that receive gear teeth of the drive gear such that rotational motion of the drive gear translates into linear motion of the extension tape. The extension tape preferably comprises a radius, and the top roller guide and bottom roller guide preferably conform to the radius of the tape. The top roller guide and bottom roller guide may form an interference for the tape while still allowing linear motion of the tape. The apparatus may extend the tape to cause the tape to exert a force on a caulk tube to extrude caulk, and the tape may thereafter reverse linear motion of the tape to remove the force of the apparatus on the caulk tube.

Powered caulking apparatus

A fastener driving device includes a fastener and at least one gas spring. Additionally, the fastener driving device includes a drive mechanism, the drive mechanism being capable of selectively engaging and disengaging the at least one gas spring, the at least one gas spring capable of moving to an energized position upon being engaged by the drive mechanism. Additionally, the device includes an anvil, wherein the drive mechanism includes a first lifting mechanism and a second lifting mechanism, wherein the first lifting mechanism actuates the at least one gas spring for a portion of an operation cycle, and the second lifting mechanism thereafter actuates the at least one gas spring for a subsequent portion of the operation cycle before the drive mechanism ceases applying a force on the at least one gas spring and the at least one gas spring releases a portion of its potential energy and accelerates the anvil to drive a fastener.

Fastener driving apparatus

A fastener driving apparatus featuring at least one gas spring and a drive mechanism, comprising a plurality of lifters, for selectively engaging and disengaging said at least one gas spring to energize the gas spring. The lifters the gas spring to energize the gas spring and thereafter release the gas spring, wherein the gas spring releases a portion of its potential energy and accelerates an anvil to engage a fastener. The lifters may engage the gas spring at the same time for a portion of the operational cycle of the apparatus, and the operational cycle may include an intermediate stopping point, which after resumption of a lifter on the gas spring after the stopping point, a relatively small increase of energy in the gas spring thereafter is required to generate a sufficient energy in the gas spring to effectively drive a fastener.

A fastener driving apparatus comprises at least one gas spring or spring, a drive mechanism, an anvil assembly, and an anvil. The drive mechanism selectively engages one of the at least one gas spring, spring or anvil assembly. A locking mechanism (such as a one-way clutch) is used to provide a middle stopping point during which the gas spring(s) is/are being energized. The motor of the apparatus may thereafter be turned off. When the user is ready to fire a nail, the motor is re-energized and the drive mechanism continues, releasing the gas spring(s) to drive the nail. The drive mechanism may include its own one-way clutch for overrunning and causing the drive mechanism to be released from the locking mechanism. To complete, the cycle the crank continues rotation and re-engages the anvil assembly and energizes the gas spring(s).

A projectile launching apparatus for launching a projectile, such as a pellet, a BB bullet, an arrow, a dart and a paintball includes a linear motion converter driven by a motor, a piston coupled to the linear motion converter and reciprocally movable within a cylinder, a spring assembly and a breech assembly. The piston compresses a gas within the cylinder, after which the compressed gas expands in the barrel of the breech assembly for launching the projectile. Breech assembly includes a breech, a bolt, and bolt barrel cam, which rotate with the gas spring to allow a projectile to enter the breech and then to seal the bolt in the breech before the spring assembly releases its stored energy to launch the projectile.

A projectile launching apparatus for launching a projectile, such as a pellet, a BB bullet, an arrow, a dart and a paintball includes a linear motion converter driven by a motor, a piston coupled to the linear motion converter and reciprocally movable within a cylinder, a gas spring and a breech assembly. In another embodiment, the bolt is coupled with a magnet instead of a cam.

An impacting apparatus includes a spring anvil assembly and a drive mechanism that alternatively engages a the spring anvil assembly to actuate the spring anvil assembly to store potential energy in the spring anvil assembly, and which drive mechanism alternatively disengages the spring anvil assembly to allow the spring anvil assembly to launch and accelerate toward an impact target to deliver impact energy from the spring anvil assembly to the impact target. In an embodiment, the spring anvil assembly is biased to a start position by one of the impact target and the weight of the apparatus. The spring anvil assembly may comprise a gas spring or a spring, for example. The apparatus is capable of delivering multiple impacts to an impact target.

Impacting apparatus

A fastener driving apparatus includes a spring anvil assembly that comprises a gas spring and an anvil. The end of the piston that extends out of the gas spring may be fixedly disposed against an object that is capable of exerting a force against the piston for at least a portion of the operational cycle. A drive mechanism acts on the spring assembly to store potential energy in the spring. The drive mechanism thereafter ceases acting on the spring assembly and the potential energy is released, causing the spring anvil assembly move and to separate from the drive mechanism for a period of free flight of the spring anvil assembly, the anvil thereafter moving to strike a fastener to drive the fastener into a substrate.

A fastener driving apparatus includes an extensible polymer assembly and a fastener drive assembly, such that when said extensible polymer assembly is actuated (by a motor and linear motion converter), energy is stored as an extensible polymer of the polymer assembly extends in length and force from said extensible polymer is applied on said fastener drive assembly. When said extensible polymer reaches a sufficient extension, a retention means releases said fastener drive assembly and wherein said fastener drive assembly moves from a first position to a second position such that an anvil of the fastener drive assembly is capable of driving a fastener into a substrate.

A fastener driving apparatus includes a vacuum piston and a drive piston, which vacuum piston, when moved (by way of a motor and linear motion converter), draws a vacuum against the drive piston, which drive piston may be held in place by retention means. An anvil is coupled to the drive piston. The retention means is released electrically or mechanically at or near the point of maximum vacuum volume. This drive piston and anvil assembly is then driven by atmospheric pressure and may strike a fastener to drive it into a substrate. At least one position sensor may be used. Once the fastener is driven, the apparatus may reset to an initial position. At least one parasitic loss seal may be provided to reduce drag force on the drive piston, and a timed dwell may be provided for the vacuum piston for operation.

A fastener driving apparatus for driving fasteners into a substrate. The fastener driving apparatus is a combination of a motor driven linear motion converter; a compression cylinder; an expansion cylinder and a valve arrangement. The linear motion converter converts a rotational motion of a motor to a linear motion of a compression piston within the compression cylinder causing a gas within the compression cylinder to be compressed. The compressed gas is communicated to the expansion cylinder through the valve arrangement wherein the compressed gas expands causing an anvil coupled to an expansion piston within the expansion cylinder to move axially. The axial movement of the anvil causes a fastener to be driven into the substrate. The fastener driving apparatus is an ergonomically designed portable hand held tool providing comfort to a user, meeting safety standards and performance efficiency requirements.

A fastener driving apparatus includes a power source, a control circuit, a motor, a first cylinder, a first piston, a linear motion converter, a second cylinder, a second piston, an anvil, a retention element retaining a component of the apparatus, and at least one sensor. During a compression stroke, the first piston compresses gas in a first cylinder to a predetermined pressure. Compressed gas is communicated to the second cylinder and the retention force of the retention element is overcome, to release the retained component of the apparatus, thereby causing the second piston to move linearly and enabling the anvil to drive the fastener into the workpiece. During a return stroke of the first piston, a vacuum created in the first cylinder is communicated to the second cylinder, causing, along with an optional other retraction capacity, the second piston and the anvil to retract to their initial positions.

A fastener driving apparatus includes a power source, a control circuit, a motor, a first hollow guide member having a first volumetric capacity, a first piston, a linear motion converter, a second hollow guide member having a second volumetric capacity, a second piston, an anvil, a valve arrangement and at least one sensor. The guide members may have an elliptical or oval cross-section. During a compression stroke, the first piston compresses gas in the first hollow guide member. The valve arrangement opens and communicates the compressed gas to the second hollow guide member, causing the second piston to move the anvil to drive a fastener. During a return stroke of the first piston, the valve arrangement opens, communicating a vacuum created in the first hollow guide member to the second hollow guide member, thereby causing the second piston and the anvil to retract to their initial positions.
