A true random number generator including a transistor, a first voltage source, a second voltage source, and a comparator. The transistor has a first electrode, a second electrode, and a third electrode. Two of the electrodes are electrically connected by a channel of conductive nanomaterial. The first voltage source is electrically connected to the first electrode and the second voltage source is electrically connected to the second electrode. The comparator is electrically connected to the third electrode and is configured to classify a measured electrical property at the third electrode as either HIGH or LOW based on a comparison of the measured electrical property with a reference value. The measured electrical property varies over time due to random telegraph signals (RTSs) due to defects in the transistor.

Nanomaterial-based true random number generator

A system includes a very low frequency (VLF) antenna connected to a circuit that has a high pass filter and a low pass filter. The circuit is configured for noise reduction and frequency localization of detected VLF signals. A receiver is configured to receive filtered VLF signals output by the circuit and to separate desired signals for processing. A display is configured to provide a user with visual feedback based at least in part on an even signature extracted by a digital signal processor (DSP).

System and method for very low frequency detection of an event signature

A signal evaluation system is provided for evaluating a first EM signal and a second EM signal for use in a passive coherent location system. The signal evaluation system includes: a spectrum detecting component that detects the first EM signal and the second EM signal; a signal characterization component that generates a first characterization of the first EM signal and to generate a second characterization of the second EM signal; and a ranking component that ranks the EM signals for use in the passive coherent location system. An optically detected power quality disturbance caused by a remote load is classified as belonging to a class of known classes of power quality disturbances. Features associated with different power quality disturbances that belong to a plurality of different known classes of power quality disturbances are learned. Cross-covariance is applied to the optically detected power quality disturbance and the different power quality disturbances that belong to the different known classes of power quality disturbances to recognize features of the optically detected power quality disturbance that at least partially match the learned features. The class of power quality disturbances among the plurality of classes of different known power quality disturbances to which the optically detected power quality disturbance belongs is determined based on the recognized features.

A system and method are provided for wirelessly transmitting energy from a transmitter platform to a receiver platform. The system reduces the number of coils on the receiver platform to one, while the remaining coils are located on the transmitter platform. The spacing of the coils on the transmitting platform can be adjusted to optimize the magnetic flux transfer to the single coil on the receiving platform based on the unique distance between the transmitter and receiver platforms.

Techniques and methods for frequency division multiplexed digital beamforming

A wireless power transfer system includes a receive coil system nested within a transmit coil system forming a closed magnetic circuit. The transmit coil system includes a non-planar tapered transmit coil disposed within a tapered ferrite housing and a layer of insulating material surrounding the non-planar tapered transmit coil and the tapered ferrite housing. The receive coil system includes a ferrite plug comprising a column portion centrally secured to a plate portion, a non-planar receive coil wound around the column portion, a layer of insulating material surrounding the column portion and the non-planar receive coil, and a hemispherical covering surrounding the insulated column portion and non-planar receive coil. The non-planar receive coil has a smaller diameter than the non-planar tapered transmit coil. The maximum outside diameter of the hemispherical covering is less than or equal to the minimum inside diameter of the non-planar tapered transmit coil.

Aspects of the present invention provide a system and method for using a filter controller and an adjustable narrow-band filter within each sub-band of a communication system. If a channel of the sub-band is being jammed, the filter controller will adjust the adjustable narrow-band filter to notch-filter out only the channel of the sub-band that is being jammed. In this manner, the remaining channel of the sub-band may be used for communication.

Methods for establishing metamaterial transmission line (MTM TL's) for a phased array antenna can include the initial step of defining a defining a Composite Right/Left Hand (CRLH) CRLH unit cell architecture. A family of unit cells using CRLH TL microstrip architecture can be constructed so that each of the CRLH unit cells have the same physical length, but different cell phases and cell phase slopes. To do this, the stub length of each CRLH unit cell can be varied. Once the family of CRLH unit cells is constructed, different numbers of different CRLH unit cells from the family can be combined with different numbers of conventional right hand TL's, which results in TL's for a phased array antenna that each have the same overall phase and overall phase slope not only at the design frequency f, but over the entire design frequency band for the antenna.

In one preferred embodiment, an aircraft marshaling wand controller displays aircraft marshaling instructions to a pilot on a video display monitor on-board an aircraft, such as an aircraft on an aircraft carrier. When an aircraft marshal uses arm motion gestures to form aircraft marshaling instructions for the pilot on the aircraft, the wand controller of the present invention senses or detects those gesture motions, and generates digitized command signals representative of those gesture motions made by the aircraft marshal. A wireless transceiver then transmits those digitized command signals to the aircraft for display on the video monitor for viewing by the pilot.
