A weather strip seal for an automotive vehicle is provided including a generally rigid carrier reinforcement for retaining the shape of the weather stripping; a first ionomer material extruded onto or carried by the carrier, the ionomer material having a glossy surface; and a second elastomeric material extruded onto the carrier, the second material being provided for sealing between a first structure the weather stripping is attached to and a second structure.

Automotive vehicle seal and decorative trim strip

A weather strip seal for an automotive vehicle is provided. The weather strip seal includes a first extrusion of elastomeric material forming a sealing wing for sealing a first structure of the vehicle with respect to a second structure of the vehicle. The weather strip seal also includes a second ionomer material which is connected onto the first surface of the sealing wing and forms a thin layer thereon.

Automotive vehicle seal with decorative trim sealing surface

A weather strip molding for sealing a movable glass panel in an automotive vehicle is provided. The weather strip molding is placed within a window opening having at least two intersecting boundaries along a peripheral edge of the window opening. The weather strip molding is continuous between the first and second boundaries. The weather strip molding includes a retention portion for connecting the weather strip to a rigid structure adjacent to one of the window opening boundaries. The weather strip molding also includes a sealing wing connected with the retention portion having a colored first surface for sealing against the movable glass panel. The color of the sealing first surface can be coordinated with the interior trim of the vehicle as desired.

Continuous colored seal

A process for creating a seal having a first linear portion and a second curved portion joined thereto is provided. The process includes providing a retaining section including a threaded metal wire with warp fiber disposed therein, forming the carrier section into a predetermined cross-sectional shape using forming rolls, extruding a polymeric material around the carrier section and generating a contacting member onto said carrier section to form a seal, heating the seal within an oven to cure the polymeric material and to break down the warp fiber so that the seal is readily bendable, and heating then cooling the second portion of the seal in a forming device for predetermined times at predetermined temperatures to cause the second portion of the seal to be formed in a curved manner.

Method of making a vanishing warp carrier seal

A window module has a fixed-pane window which is encapsulated by a molded trim piece having an integral portion which extends around an adjacent movable window opening. The integral trim is formed of EPDM. The window module is constructed by placing a window pane, a division post and the end of an extruded EPDM trim strip into a mold into which EPDM is injected to integrate and encapsulate the inserts.
