A method of inhibiting corrosion of iron and steel alloys in contact with oil-in-brine emulsions is claimed. The method comprises treating the oil-in-brine emulsions with an effective amount of a water soluble polymer having an average molecular weight of at least one million and an effective amount of a nitrogen-containing corrosion inhibitor.

Enhanced corrosion protection by use of friction reducers in conjuction

This invention is a method for inhibiting corrosion in metallic flow lines containing hydrocarbon and/or aqueous fluids comprising adding to the fluid contained in the flow line a corrosion inhibiting amount of a water-soluble ampholytic substituted imidazoline having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R1 comprises a radical selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl, and aryl groups having 6 to 30 carbons; R2 comprises a radical selected from the group consisting of polyalkylene polyamines having from 2 to 16 carbon atoms, NH.sub.2, N(R.sub.4).sub.2, OH and SH; R.sub.3 is a radical selected from the group consisting of carboxylate, carbonate, sulfite, sulfate, phosphite, and phosphate; n is a number from 1 to 10; and, R4 comprises a branched or linear alkyl chain having a length of 1 to 8.

Water soluble corrosion inhibitors

The present invention provides a process for stabilizing iron oxides and iron hydroxides in produced oil field waters. A water soluble polymer containing pendant N-substituted amide functionality units is added at a rate of about 6 parts by weight polymer to 10 parts by weight iron in the produced water.

Method of controlling iron in produced oilfield waters

A method of corrosion inhibition using a gelled inhibitor is disclosed. The method comprises consecutively introducing into an annular region of a jacketed pipeline a hydrogel slurried in an environmentally innocuous oil medium and a corrosion inhibitor dissolved in an aqueous medium. The liquid media are contacted to form a gelled corrosion inhibitor in the annulus. The method is particularly useful in buried pipelines where corrosion monitoring is difficult.
