A data switching system, having a switch processor, directs requests to initiate a new operation session of an executable application. The switch processor parses received data representing a received universal resource locator (URL) to identify whether the received URL is associated with a request to initiate an operation session of an executable application. If the received URL is associated with a request to initiate an operation session, the switch processor initiates a data access request at a second URL address hosted by a particular server. In response to receiving a response indicating success of the data access request at the second URL address hosted by the particular server, the switch processor directs the request to initiate the operation session of the executable application to the particular server.

System enabling server progressive workload reduction to support server maintenance

A user interface system supports flexible user navigation and item selection and manipulation in a hierarchical data structure representation. The user interface system facilitates selection of a plurality of items from a display of hierarchically organized items. The user interface system includes a user interface image generator for providing data representing a displayable image showing a hierarchical organization of user selectable icons visually identifying whether the selectable icons are currently selected. The hierarchical organization of icons links a parent icon representing a first group of data items with multiple child icons representing corresponding data items of the first group and an individual one of the child icons links to a second group of grandchild icons representing a corresponding second group of data items. The user interface system also includes a user interface command processor for initiating selection of direct ancestor icons of the grandchild icon comprising the parent icon and the individual one of the child icons excluding others of the child icons, in response to user activation of a mode of selection of the grandchild icon.

A system customizes and generates data representing an electronic form for storage on a target workstation ready for use prior to execution time of a procedure used to generate the form. An adaptive user interface generator generates code representing an executable procedure for use in providing a user interface display including a plurality of displayed user interface display elements. A source of presentation control information determines a user interface presentation format of a display image capable of being adaptively scaled to fit different display image sizes. The presentation control information specifies relative location and size of the interface display elements. A transformation processor transforms the presentation control information into executable procedure representative code for use in providing a user interface display image with a format suitable for a desired display size. The source of presentation control information determines the user interface presentation format of the display image exclusive of data identifying absolute image display element positions in the display image.

System and procedure for providing a user interface display

A communication system and data format extracts required object data from a database and updates the database with amended or new object data and associated data relationships following optional modification of the object data by an external system. A communication data format is used for communicating data between applications for storage and retrieval. The data format includes a data field for conveying a data item and a plurality of attributes associated with the data field. The plurality of attributes include a data type identifier for use in determining an executable procedure to be used in processing the data item, and at least one other attribute used in determining particular operations to be applied in processing the data item by the executable procedure.

Communication data format for use in data storage and retrieval

A processing system, for use with a user interface display including image elements for prompting user data entry, includes a binding database. The binding database includes elements for linking different first and second data item identifiers with corresponding different first and second prompt elements of a user interface display image. The first data item identifier identifies a set of allowable data items for entry by a user via the first prompt element. A database parser automatically examines the binding database to detect a change in binding database elements. A processor updates the set of allowable data items in response to any detected binding database change.

Processing system for use with a user interface display

A system for dynamically configuring a user interface display, including image elements for prompting user data entry, includes an input data processor for receiving input data via a prompt element for display in the user interface. A database associates a condition with input data received via the prompt element An image element processor determines whether the received input data satisfies the condition and at least either activates or inactivates an image element in the user interface display in response to the determination.

System for dynamically configuring a user interface display

A user friendly interface system enables a user to incorporate, in an executable application, custom decision logic in the form of an expression involving a high-level script language. A system supports use of user customizable expressions by a plurality of different executable applications. The system involves a database for associating a particular application of the plurality of different executable applications with a particular data item of a plurality of selectable data items available for incorporation in a user entered expression. The database is also employed in excluding use by the particular application of another data item of the plurality of selectable data items. An interface processor receives a user entered expression and incorporates the particular data item in the user entered expression to provide a resultant expression for use by the particular application. An expression processor checks expression syntax and uses a version identifier to identify a latest version of the entered expression to be processed to provide a result.
