The techniques disclosed herein provide a synchronization engine that operates in conjunction with a service worker to dynamically store and update a working set of user data and single page application (SPA) resources from a network server to a user device. The working set can be hosted across several domains and identified by association with a user account. Accordingly, the synchronization engine retrieves the working set from the network server to enable offline execution of the single page applications. As such, subsequent requests for interacting with a single page application are then serviced by the synchronization engine using the working set retrieved from the network server. For instance, the service worker can bind user data to the application resources to enable progressive rendering through an application controller using locally available resources. In this way, the disclosed system provides a consistent user experience irrespective of network connectivity.

Domain agnostic offline runtime for single page applications

Disclosed herein is a system configured to implement a service worker capable of serving multiple single page applications (SPAs) that are hosted in the same uniform resource locator (URL) space (e.g., a domain within which the SPAs are hosted). Accordingly, the defined scope of the service worker is no longer bound by only one SPA, but rather by a root directory of a web site that hosts multiple SPAs. Since the service worker described herein serves multiple SPAs, the service worker implements an approach to ensure that a correct application controller corresponding to the SPA that hosts a URL is invoked. To do this, the service worker is configured to leverage a router and a routing table to associate a URL included in a request from a browser with the correct application controller corresponding to the SPA that hosts the URL for which the request is sent.

Service worker configured to serve multiple single page applications

Collected usage information relating to interaction with content is integrated with operation of a system, such as a content management system. The usage information is collected in response to occurrences of usage events. A user may create, configure and define the usage events according to their needs. The user may also configure/define different values that are associated with the different events. For example, a user may specify: when to count a view (e.g. unique user view or each view); what period of time to collect counts; aggregation of counts (e.g. tenant, site, collection); a weighting for the event; a trim value; when to provide the parameter to a search index of the system such that the value is considered by the search engine of the system; whether or not a parameter is configurable by other users, and the like.

Extensibility model for usage analytics used with a system

The present disclosure provides for improved computational efficiency in systems used to provide content over a network. Hybrid content sourcing is enabled to provide content via a Content Distribution System (CDN) and a centralized service in conjunction with one another via a single URL provided to client devices. Client devices are provided with expiration tokens, which are used to authorize the CDN to request and serve the content to the client devices with the security inherent to the centralized service. Tenants are thereby enabled to use the CDN as an available source via a single Uniform Resource Locator provided to clients with greater security than public CDNs.

Configuring usage events that affect analytics of usage information

Search results returned by ad hoc queries integrate search results with usage analytics calculated from collected usage information for a system, such as a content management system. In response to receiving a query, the query is submitted to the system to obtain search results. Information from the usage analytics is integrated with the obtained search results. A search index of the system may include all/portion of the usage analytics such that the obtained results from the system may already be integrated with the usage analytics. The system is configurable such that users of the system may configure the usage events that are used to collect the usage information. The users may also configure parameters relating to the usage events and when/how the collected information is stored. The usage analytics may also be used to filter, collapse and boost different items in the search results.

Ad-hoc queries integrating usage analytics with search results

Technologies are described herein for locating relevant content items across multiple disparate content sources. Query parameters are received from a user interface for defining a query for searching a number of content sources located on multiple, disparate content servers. A native search is executed on each of the content servers based on the received query parameters, and query statistics and other data regarding content items in the content sources matching the query parameters are received. The query statistics are aggregated across the content servers and presented in the user interface. The presentation of the query statistics may be broken out by each content source, by each query phrase segmented from the query, and the like. In addition, a preview of a number of content items matching the query parameters is presented based on the data received.

Locating relevant content items across multiple disparate content sources

Usage information relating to interaction with content is integrated with operation of a system, such as a content management system. The usage information is collected, stored and provided to the system. The usage information may be integrated with the operation of the system in many different ways (e.g. recommendations for other content, most viewed content, most 'liked' content, content viewed by a type of user, and the like). The usage information may also be used to adjust different operations of the service. For example, the usage information may be used to adjust: a retention time of content (e.g. don't delete a recently viewed document), a crawl policy of content; a backup policy of content; restore schedules; identification of storage tier levels; and the like.

Integrating usage information with operation of a system

This disclosure describes techniques of managing electronic documents as electronic records that do not require moving the electronic documents to a different repository. As described herein, an electronic document is stored at a first repository prior to a time when the electronic document is declared to be an electronic record. An administrator is able to configure a document management system (DMS) to manage the electronic document as an electronic record after the electronic document is declared to be an electronic record. In addition, the administrator is able to configure the DMS to store a copy of the electronic document at a second repository after the electronic document is declared to be an electronic record and to manage the copy of the electronic document as an electronic record.

Flexible electronic records management

Methods, systems, and computer program products digitally sign an electronic entity, such as an electronic document, with a user-entered signature image. The method involves rendering the document and rendering a sign dialog. Rendering the sign dialog includes prompting the signer to write a signature to sign the document. The method also involves receiving and inking the signature from the signer, creating a digital representation incorporating an image of the signature; creating a unique value of the image of the signature and of the document, and saving the unique value in association with the document thereby digitally signing the document. The unique value saved in association with the document is verifiable for authenticity by users of the document. Additionally, the method may also involve automatically selecting a signing certificate appropriate for the signer based on selection criteria.
