An improved meter bar assembly including an elongated casting (10) having threaded inlet and outlet ports (18) and (30) along with spaced, threaded swivel receiving ports (22), (36). Shoulders (54) are located in each of the swivel receiving ports (22), (36) and an auxiliary port (70) is also located in the casting. A cylindrical tube (72) is disposed in the auxiliary port and extends into the casting (10) to provide a mechanical barrier between the outlet port (30) and the swivel port (36). A cap (76) is provided for the tube (72) and a check valve (78) disposed within the tube (72). A pair of swivel tubes, (28) and (40) are threaded into the ports (22), (36) and one of the swivel tubes (40) includes an internal check valve (96). Both swivel tubes are provided with stop surfaces (50) that abut the shoulders (54) of the associated swivel tube receiving ports to positively locate the swivel tubes (28) and (40) in the meter bar (10) and with respect to one another.

Auxiliary gas connection for meter sets

Difficulties with accessibility to a valve and the entry of precipitation into a locking mechanism for the valve are eliminated in a security valve assembly that includes a valve body (22), (100) including a pair of spaced ports (12), (18); (102), (104) with a passage (38), (106) extending between the ports. A valve member (26), (110) is rotatable within the body between an open position and a closed position and may be rotated by an actuator (32), (118). The body (22), (100) includes a lock receiving chamber (50), (130) for removably receiving a lock (52), (136) in a direction generally transverse to the passage (38), (106).

Security valve assembly

A tamperproof rotary valve which includes a valve body having a fluid flow passage extending therethrough. The passage is intersected by an actuator opening in the body and defining a valve chamber thereat. A rotary valve is disposed in the chamber for opening and closing the fluid flow passage. An actuator is journaled in the actuator opening and is coupled to the rotary valve for rotating the valve. A groove is formed about the actuator, and a contractible/expandable locking ring is disposed in the groove and projects outwardly of the groove beyond the bounds of the actuator when in a free, expanded condition. The locking ring is contractible into the groove to allow assembly of the actuator into the actuator opening. A locking groove is formed in the actuator opening in the valve body and into which the locking ring expands when the actuator is in a proper assembled position in the actuator opening. The actuator has a cam surface for biasing the locking ring into the locking groove in response to any attempted withdrawal movement of the actuator in said opposite direction. A resilient grommet is compressed between an enlarged portion of the actuator and the valve body to generate torque therebetween to resist rotation. A valve seal is disposed in a seal seat in the valve body about the valve ball, the valve seal being resilient and having a stiffening ring embedded therein.

Tamperproof rotary valve

A tamperproof rotary valve which includes a valve body having a fluid flow passage extending therethrough. The passage is intersescted by an actuator opening in the body and defining a valve chamber thereat. A rotary valve is disposed in the chamber for opening and closing the fluid flow passage. An actuator is journaled in the actuator opening and is coupled to the rotary valve for rotating the valve. A groove is formed about the actuator, and a contractible/expandable locking ring is disposed in the groove and projects outwardly of the groove beyound the bounds of the actuator when in a free, expanded condition. The locking ring is contractible into the groove to allow assembly of the actuator into the actuator opening. A locking groove is formed in the actuator opening in the valve body and into which the locking ring expands when the actuator is in a proper assembled position in the actuator opening. The actuator has a surface for biasing the locking ring into the locking groove in response to any attempted withdrawal movement of the actuator in said opposite direction. A resilient grommet is compressed between an enlarged portion of the actuator and the valve body to generate torque therebetween to resist rotation. A valve seal is disposed in a seal seat in the valve body about the valve ball, the valve seal being resilient and having a stiffening ring embedded therein.

A well water retrieval system for deep shaft wells including an electrical generator of limited generating capacity of the type that operates upon input of naturally occurring energy in wave or kinetic form as, for example, a photovoltaic generator. The system includes a plurality of electrically operated pumps each having an electrical energy demand not in excess of the generating capacity of the generator and a plurality of water reservoirs each sized to be disposed in a well shaft, there being a reservoir for most of the pumps. A conduit system supports the pumps and the reservoirs in a well shaft with the pumps and reservoirs stacked substantially vertically with the outlet of each pump connected to a reservoir higher in the stack and the inlet of each pump connected to an adjacent reservoir. A control is provided for operating the pumps selectively such that each pump drives water from its inlet to its associated higher reservoir to be elevated therefrom to another higher reservoir by another higher pump with the electrical energy demand of the operating pumps not exceeding the generating capacity. Consequently, a relatively small size generator may be utilized at a considerable cost saving.

Natural energy operated pump system

A ball valve including a valve housing having a fluid flow passage extending therethrough and terminating in ports for connection to a fluid conduit, the passage being intersected by an actuator opening in the housing a defining a valve chamber thereat, the opening having a shoulder intermediate its ends. An actuator is journalled in the opening and has a shaft including a threaded portion extending past the shoulder toward the chamber and terminating in a keyed-type end within the chamber and a nut of smaller size than one of the ports is threaded on the threaded portion after introduction into the chamber through the one port to retain the actuator on the housing. The nut bears against the shoulder. A valve ball has a bore extending therethrough and a keyway type groove in a side thereof. The ball is smaller than the one port and is disposed in the chamber by axial introduction through the port with the keyway type groove being oriented to slip fit about the keyed type end of the actuator shaft to couple the ball to the actuator. Stops are provided for limiting rotation of the actuator relative to the housing to prevent loosening of the nut and a fitting is received in the one port for narrowing the same to a size less than the ball to prevent loss of the ball through the port.

Ball valve construction

A safety valve for use in fuel dispensing systems including a vapor recovery system and having a valve body, first and second inlets in the body, first and second outlets in the body, first and second, separate, fluid flow passages in the body and extending between respective ones of the first and second inlets and outlets, two valve seats in the body, one in each of the passages, a shaft extending through and rotatable in the body adjacent the valve seats, first and second clapper valves in the body, one in each passage, each clapper valve having a limited lost motion connection to the shaft to be rotatable therewith, with limited lost motion, between positions seated against and spaced from the associated valve seat, a pair of springs, one for each valve, biasing the associated valve towards its associated seat, and a holding device for holding the shaft in a position of rotation within the body wherein the valves are spaced from their associated seats, and for sensing an unsafe condition in the vicinity of the valve body for releasing the shaft so that the springs will cause the valves to close.
