A prosthesis includes an outer capsule that is made of biosorbable material. An inner capsule is encapsulated by the outer capsule. A layer of fluid is interposed between the outer capsule and the inner capsule. In one implementation, the inner capsule surrounds autologous fluids or saline. Also, the layer of fluid interposed between the outer capsule and the inner capsule may comprise autologous fluids or saline.

Tissue marking implant

A method for marking a surgically formed cavity in a patient includes providing an implant comprising a matrix material and a marking material, the matrix material configured to be elastically compressible; modifying the shape and size of the implant to fit the shape and size of the surgically formed cavity in the patient, the implant being configured to fill the surgically formed cavity and support tissue surrounding the surgically formed cavity and to allow in-growth of fibrous tissue into and replace at least a portion of the matrix material; and inserting the implant into the surgically formed cavity.

An implant for marking an area within a living body includes a matrix material and a marking material. The implant is formable to fit the shape and size of a cavity in the human body. The implant is configured to support tissue surrounding the cavity and to allow in-growth of fibrous tissue into and replace at least a portion of the matrix material.

A surgical drape includes a first, closed container within which a first sheet is disposed. The first sheet has first and second opposed ends, the first end of the first sheet being removable from the container so as to remove a desired portion of the first sheet from the container, the second end of the first sheet remaining within the container. Preferably, the first container is laid across a desired portion of the table prior to placing the patient on the table. After the patient has been positioned properly and prepped, the first sheet can be pulled from underneath the patient and pulled out of the first container so that the sheet covers the table in the area of surgical interest and then covers the entire side or end of the table down to the floor. After the surgical procedure has been completed, the first sheet and the container can be removed and discarded. Desirably, the surface of the container in contact with the table is provided with adhesive that will prevent undesired movement of the container relative to either the table or the patient. If desired, the edges of the first sheet can be provided with adhesive surfaces, or possibly hook and loop fasteners, in order to secure the edges of the first sheet to selected portions of the operating table. Alternative embodiments include a second sheet that can be used to cover other portions of the operating table and a third sheet that can be used to cover portions of the patient during pre-operation preparations.

Surgical drape

A tissue marking implant includes a matrix material and a dye marker. The implant, which can be formed entirely of bioresorbable material such as a collagen foam, is sized and shaped to replace excised tissue. The implant supports surrounding tissue upon implantation, while allowing for in-growth of fibrous tissue to replace the implant. According to various alternative embodiments, the implant is elastically compressible, or can be formed from self-expanding foam or sponges, and can be implanted through a cannula or by injection, as well as by open procedures. The implant can carry therapeutic and diagnostic substances. The dye marker leaches from the implant such that a surgeon, upon subsequent surgical intervention, visibly recognizes the tissue marked by the dye marker.

A surgical draping system (), separates the sterile surgical field from the unsterile surgical table and isolates the patient so that sterile surgical procedures can be performed without chance of contamination. The components of the surgical draping system are provided folded and in sterile condition inside a sealed bag container. The sealed bag (), is placed acres an operating table (), prior to placement of the patient. Once the patient has been positioned on the operating table (), the bag (), is opened and the surgical drape (), is extended. The draping system may include coverings for legs or arms and a top drape. The draping system isolates the operating field in a simple and sterile manner and can be discarded at the termination of the procedure.

A carotid cooling jacket keeps the wearer cool during outside sporting events, for example. The jacket is reusable, and constructed of a waterproof inner lining and a soft outer cover. The outer cover can be made of various materials and in various colors. Filler caps are provided to fill the jacket inner liner with cooling fluid.
