The present invention provides a passive deodorization device suitable for use in a portable toilet enclosure having a vent tube for venting odors from a holding tank. The deodorization device has a housing having an engagement surface for engaging a vent tube outer surface, and an aperture. Two fingers extend from the aperture into the vent tube. A retention member mounted on the fingers engage a vent tube inner surface and clamp the vent tube wall between the housing and retention member. A deodorizing element slipped into the aperture between the fingers deodorizes the malodorous vapors associated with the toilet.

An air treatment system has a removable and replaceable filter, the filter having a plastic frame, and having a multi-layer filtering medium. A filter seat has a switch located along one side in contact with a flexible tab. When the filter is located in the seat and faces the desired direction, one of two projections on the top and bottom of the filter frame moves the flexible tab to activate the switch, which signals proper installation of the filter. When a filter element is installed, it starts a timer which times the service life of the filter element and an air treatment cartridge. When the timer times out, it signals a user through an LED or audible alarm to replace the replaceable components.

An air treatment system has a removable and replaceable cartridge, the cartridge having a cylindrical plastic canister, and having a liquid-permeable vaporizing element disposed in the canister. The canister is located on one side in a cradle inside a housing where air flow is controlled between inlet and outlet ports by a pivoting frame member. A slider is moved up and down outside the housing to simultaneously move a pair of arms inside the housing into closed, partially open or fully open positions relative to the inlet and outlet ports. The canister has ports of special configuration and a baffle is placed in the canister to assist radial air flow and assure that air flows over the coiled air vaporizing element.

A device for dispensing a vaporizable material including a base adapted to support thereon an air freshener element and adapted to be supported on a pivotable door, a cover supported on the base and cooperating with the base to define an air passage communicating with the air freshener element, guide rails for affording selective movement of the cover relative to the base between a closed position wherein the air passage is substantially obstructed by a baffle and an open position wherein the device promotes passage of a flow of air through the passage during pivotal movement of the door, and detents on the base and cover which cooperate to retain the relative position of the cover and base during pivotal movement of the door.
