A novel microcapsule comprising an encapsulated material which is enclosed within a solid permeable shell of a polymer resin having surface modifying compounds capable of reacting with isocyanate incorporated therein is disclosed. The process for producing such microcapsules is likewise disclosed.

An aqueous coating composition comprising a crosslinkable water-dispersible polyurethane oligomer wherein said composition when drying to form a coating has an open time of at least 20 minutes, a wet-edge time of at least 10 minutes, a tack free time of &#x3c;20 hours and an equilibrium viscosity of &#x3c;5,000 Pa&#xb7;s at a solids content when drying in the range of from 20 to 55 wt % using a shear rate in the range of from 9&#xb1;0.5 to 90&#xb1;5 sand at 23+2&#xb0; C.

Aqueous polyurethane coating compositions

An aqueous coating composition comprising a crosslinkable water-dispersible vinyl oligomer(s) wherein said composition when drying to form a coating has an open time of at least 20 minutes, a wet edge time of at least 10 minutes, a tack free time of &#x2266;20 hours and an equilibrium viscosity of &#x2266;5,000 Pa&#xb7;s at any solids content when drying in the range of from 20 to 55 wt % using any shear rate in the range of from 9&#xb1;0.5 to 90&#xb1;5 sand at 23&#xb1;2&#xb0; C.

Aqueous vinyl polymer coating compositions

An aqueous coating composition comprising a crosslinkable water-dispersible polyester oligomer wherein said composition when drying to form a coating has the following properties: an open time of at least 20 minutes, a wet edge time of at least 10 minutes, a thumb hard time of &#x2266;48 hours and a tack-free time &#x2266;20 hours and an equilibrium viscosity of &#x2266;5000 Pa.s at any solids content when drying in the range of from 20 to 55 wt % using a shear rate in the range of from 9&#xb1;0.5 to 90&#xb1;5 sand at 23&#xb1;2&#xb0; C.

Aqueous polyester coating compositions

Water-soluble films suitable for water-dissolvable packaging comprising a polyurethane polymer having defined amounts of poly(ethylene oxide) (and optionally poly(propylene oxide)) groups and acid (preferably carboxyl) groups at least 50% neutralised with a base, at least a proportion of which is of the non-volatile type, the polyurethane being made by chain extension of a urethane prepolymer. Also water-soluble packaging (sachets, capsules, bags) made from the films and their use in packaging various materials, and a process for the production of aqueous polyurethane solutions which may be used for making such films.

Ink-jet ink compositions

A process for preparing a patterned, cross-linked, acrylic-polymer, film coating on a substrate; the process comprising the steps of: a) applying to the substrate by an ink-jet printing process a mixture comprising: i) one or more cross-linkable, thermally ink-jettable, water-dissipatable, precursor(s) for one or more cross-linked acrylic-polymer(s); ii) one or more cross-linker(s) capable of cross-linking the precursor(s) for the acrylic-polymer(s); and iii) one or more colorant(s); and b) thereafter curing the mixture in situ to form the patterned, cross-linked, acrylic-polymer, film coating on the substrate. Preferably the substrate is a color filter suitable for use in an LCD display and the mixture is applied in a single pass. The precursor may itself comprise polymers, e.g. acrylic polymers. Ink for use in this process and substrates printed by this process are also described.

Composition based on cross-linkable, water-dissipatable acrylic polymers, process and use

The invention relates to polyurethanes, inks comprising polyurethanes and their use in ink jet printing where the polyurethane comprises a colored water-dissipatable polyurethane obtainable from the reaction of a polyisocyanate, a compound providing water-dispersing groups and a colorant having at least two functional groups.

Colored polyurethanes

Acrylic plastisol composition comprising a plasticiser component, a plasticiser compatible acrylic polymer powder component of primary particle size &gE;0.4 &mgr;m and preferably not more than 30 &mgr;m, and Tg &gE;65&deg; C., and a plasticiser incompatible polymer powder component, where both polymers are preformed, are present in the weight ratio 95:5 to 40:60, and in combination are compatibly formulated with the plasticiser component.
