A cementing system includes an inner string configured to be received into a casing string in a wellbore. The cementing system also includes a stinger coupled to the inner string and configured to be received into a float shoe connected to the casing string. The cementing system also includes a first retractable joint coupled to the inner string. The retractable joint is configured to reduce in axial length so as to permit at least part of stinger to be withdrawn from engagement with the float shoe while a weight of the inner string is supported by a hanger running tool and casing hanger connected to the casing. The inner string, the stinger, and the retractable joint form at least a part of a flowpath that extends through an end of the casing string at the float shoe.

Inner string cementing system and method

A system for controlling surge pressure and deployed into a wellbore drilled using a managed pressure drilling technique includes auto-fill float equipment allowing flow into a liner casing string, a drillpipe diverter providing a flow path between a drillpipe landing string and an annulus, and a drillpipe flow restrictor selectively blocking the flow path from the top of the drillpipe landing string while allowing fluid to be displaced up the liner casing string and into the annulus. The drillpipe flow restrictor and the drillpipe diverter are convertible to provide a flow path from the wellbore through the auto-fill float equipment to a top surface while blocking flow through the diverter into the annulus. The auto-fill float equipment is convertible to block the flow path from the wellbore into the liner casing string, while allowing fluid to flow from the liner casing string into the wellbore.

Surge reduction system for running liner casing in managed pressure drilling wells

An auto-fill type float collar assembly is provided. The float collar assembly of the present invention has at least one curved flapper-style valve, preferably constructed of composite, non-metallic material. Each flapper of the present invention has a substantially 90&#xb0; range of motion, and is closed via a torsion spring. Each flapper is held in the open (or 'auto-fill'), position via an external shifting mechanism passing around, rather than through, the central flow bore of the assembly. A floatable actuation ball can be run with the tool, or pumped downhole, in order to selectively actuate the assembly and close the flappers when desired.

Large bore auto-fill float equipment

An improved method and/or apparatus for completing a wellbore is provided. In one embodiment, a method of lining a pre-drilled wellbore is provided. The method includes the act of providing a casing assembly, the casing assembly including a string of casing; and a retractable joint comprising an inner tubular and an outer tubular. The method further includes the acts of running the casing assembly into the pre-drilled wellbore and actuating the retractable joint, thereby reducing the length of the casing assembly through movement between the inner and outer tubulars.

Retractable joint and cementing shoe for use in completing a wellbore

The present invention generally relates to apparatus and methods for completing a well. Particularly, the present invention relates to a single-direction plug for use with cementing applications and with drilling with casing applications. One embodiment comprises a cement plug for installation in a wellbore casing. The plug includes a body and gripping members for preventing movement of the body in a first axial direction relative to the casing. The plug further comprises a sealing member for sealing a fluid path between the body and the casing. The plug is movable in a second axial direction with fluid pressure but is not movable in the first direction due to fluid pressure.
