A water-in-oil emulsion ink comprises a water phase and an oil phase, wherein the water phase comprises a carbon black pigment having a pH of less than 8 dispersed therein by a water-soluble resin, and wherein the water phase also comprises a pH-adjusting agent to achieve a pH value for the water phase of 8 or greater. The ink maintains stable rheology on ageing, and provides a stable and consistent ink detection signal even after periods of non-use.

Emulsion ink

A water-in-oil emulsion ink comprises a water phase and an oil phase, wherein the water phase comprises a carbon black pigment having a pH of less than 6. The emulsion ink maintains stable rheology on ageing.

An emulsion ink comprises a continuous oil phase, two or more dispersed liquid phases, one of which is a dispersed oil phase, and a solid material dispersed in the dispersed oil phase. The emulsion ink is suitable for use on a stencil or digital duplicator, and has improved rheological properties.

A printing process including applying a composition to a substrate using a digital or stencil duplicator, the composition including a dispersion of particles of a thermoplastic or thermosetting polymer dispersed in an involatile organic liquid, where the size of the particles in the composition is less than 35 &mgr;m.
