A method of manufacturing, at least in part, a composite mould tool is described. At S, the method comprises obtaining a mould tool precursor having a first face and a reverse second face, wherein the precursor comprises a first metal. At S, the method comprises hermetically scaling the precursor by cold spraying a layer on the second face using particles comprising a second metal, wherein the respective coefficients of thermal expansion of the first metal and the second metal are within a factor of 5. At S, the method comprises providing a faceplate of the composite mould tool by subtractive manufacturing of the first face.

Method of making a composite mould tool and repairing method of a composite mould tool

A system comprising: a substrate; a fixture for receiving the substrate; and four fasteners. The substrate has two axes, and a build surface. The substrate comprises four slots through the substrate from the build surface to an opposite surface. Lengths of first and second slots are aligned along a first axis. The first and second slots are at opposite sides of the build surface to each other. Lengths of the third and fourth slots are aligned along the second axis. The third and fourth slots are at opposite sides of the build surface to each other. The fasteners fit through respective slots. The lengths of the slots are greater than diameters of portions of the fasteners that are positioned through the slots.

Fixture system for use in additive manufacturing

A method of manufacturing a part, the method involving providing an apparatus, the apparatus having a metal skin component; a metal HIP can and a hollow space between a portion of the HIP can and a portion of the skin component, the method further involving filling the HIP can with a metal powder; evacuating the HIP can; sealing the evacuated HIP can; and applying a HIP process to the apparatus in a HIP chamber so as to form the part.
