A gas-impermeable sealer element () for a detonator or other explosive initiation device includes a non-reactive sleeve () having a channel () formed therein. A reactive material strip () is sealed within the channel for transmission of an explosive's initiation signal through the sealer element (), either alone or in cooperation with transfer charges located at the input and/or output end of the non-reactive sleeve (). The reactive material strip () comprises a reactive metal wire or other substrate () having on one or both sides thereof a layer of reactive material (), either reactive metal foils which react exothermically when ignited, or a deposited fuel-oxidizer reactive material. The reactive materials, upon being energized, react exothermically in the absence of atmospheric oxygen or other extraneous oxidizer and so may be encapsulated, sealed or otherwise isolated from the atmosphere in use.

Sealer elements, detonators containing the same, and methods of making

A system and method for video navigation is disclosed. The system and method may include one or more video cameras configured to capture views external to the vehicle, a control mechanism for adjusting the sight-line of the one or more video cameras, and a display panel positioned within the vehicle for displaying the views captured within the sight-line of the one or more video cameras.

Display system

A delay unit () comprises a timing strip () and, optionally, a calibration strip () deposited on a substrate (). The timing and calibration strips comprise energetic materials which optionally may comprise particles of nanosize materials, e.g., a fuel and an oxidizer, optionally applied as separate layers. A method of making the delay units comprises depositing onto a substrate () a timing strip () having a starting point () and a discharge point () and depositing onto the same or another substrate a calibration strip (). Timing strip () and calibration strip () are of identical composition and are otherwise configured, e.g., thickness of the strips, to have identical burn rates. The calibration strip () is ignited and its burn rate is ascertained. The timing strip () is adjusted by an adjustment structure to attain a desired delay period, preferably on the basis that the burn rate of the timing strip () is substantially identical to that of the calibration strip () and ascertaining the burn rate of the calibration strip. The adjustment may be attained by one or more of providing the timing strip with jump gaps (), an accelerant or retardant (), completing the timing strip with a bridging strip (), or establishing a selected effective length of the timing strip by positioning one or both of a pick-up charge () and relay charge () over a portion of the timing strip.

Delay units and methods of making the same

A connector clip (') defines a line-retaining slot () and is configured to receive a detonator () therein. The connector clip (&#x2032;) comprises a body member (&#x2032;) and a closure member (&#x2032;) which are mounted, one on the other, for movement relative to each other along a travel path between an open position in which the line-retaining slot () is accessible to lateral insertion therein of one or more signal transmission lines (), and a closed position in which the line-retaining slot () is closed to secure such signal transmission lines () therein. One of the body member (&#x2032;) and the closure member (&#x2032;) defines a cavity within which at least part of the other of the body member (&#x2032;) and the closure member (&#x2032;) is encased during travel between the open position and the closed position. The travel path between the open position and the closed position may be as short as from the width of line-retaining slot () including its access opening (), to about two times that width.
