A safety razor blade unit has a guard (,), a cap (,) and three parallel blades (,) mounted between the guard and cap, at least one of the blades, guard and cap being movable from an at rest (non-shaving) position to modify a blade exposure dimension to attain a target blade geometry, at which shaving is initiated, in which the exposure of the first blade (,) is not greater than zero and the exposure of the third blade (,) is not less than zero. At least one of the cap (,) and guard (,) can be movable against the force of a spring (,or,) from an at rest position in which all the blades between the guard and cap have their cutting edges disposed below a plane tangential to the skin contacting surfaces of the guard and cap. The blades can be independently sprung or carried for movement in unison on a carrier pivotally mounted in a frame of the blade unit.

A safety razor blade unit including a guard, a cap, and a group of first, second, and third blades with parallel sharpened edges located between the guard and cap, the blades being resiliently movably mounted and having an at rest condition in which the first blade defines a blade edge nearest the guard having a negative exposure between about &minus;0.04 mm and about &minus;0.06 mm, the third blade defines a blade edge nearest the cap having a positive exposure between about &plus;0.04 mm and about &plus;0.06 mm, and the second blade defines a blade edge having an exposure of about zero.

A safety razor head including a guard member, a platform member fixed to the guard member, a leading blade fixed to the platform member, a cap member, a following blade fixed to the cap member, and flexible bridge portions interconnecting the guard and cap members, the bridge portions extending transversely to cutting edges of the blades and being adapted to permit resilient flexing of the cap member relative to the guard member during a shaving operation.

Safety razor head

A safety razor head, which may be a replaceable cartridge or part of a disposable razor, has leading and following tandem blades fast with a guard member and a cap member, respectively. The members are pivotally mounted for angular movement independently of each other about spaced axes parallel with the blade edges. Alternatively, the members may be interconnected by flexible bridge portions to provide for the relative angular movement of one member and blade relative to the others.

Safety razor heads

A disposable razor has its head formed with a rearwardly directed pocket to receive the forward portion of the head of a second razor to its rear, so as to protect the cutting edge or edges of the second razor. The razors are firmly but releasably interengaged with each other by co-operating projections and recess.

A shaving unit having blade means exposed forwardly of an overlying cap member and rearwardly of a guard member, wherein the blade means and guard member are movable in unison and relative to the cap means against a resilient restoring force in response to forces transmitted to the unit during a shaving operation, to alter the shaving geometry of the unit.

A safety razor comprises an elongated handle that has a pair of arcuate, laterally spaced guide rails; a support member that has a pair of elongated guide means for sliding cooperation with the respective guide rails; a spring that acts between the handle and the support member to bias the support member towards a medial position of pivotal adjustment relative to the handle; and a shaving unit for detachable interengagement with the support member to position its cutting edge parallel to the pivotal axis.
