An automated stringline installation system includes a vehicle, a 3D control system, at least partly carried by the vehicle, for determining location information, and an adjustable arm assembly, mounted on the vehicle, that identifies the location of a relative point in a stringline installation using the location information determined by the 3D control system. The adjustable arm assembly includes an operational arm having a proximal end and a distal end, a string, dispensed from the operational arm, for use in a stringline installation, and a sensor used to determine information pertaining to the location of the distal end of the operational arm assembly relative to the proximal end of the operational arm.

A construction system utilizing 3D control includes a fixed base station of known location; a self-propelled construction machine located in the general vicinity of the fixed base station; and a rotating mobile unit assembly mounted on the self-propelled construction machine and having a location-determination device arranged to rotate around an axis. The location-determination device is adapted to operate in conjunction with the fixed base station to determine geodetic information about the self-propelled construction machine.

A side plate system for a slip-form paver apparatus includes a side plate in contact with a finishing pan, a vertically extendable and retractable tube assembly between the side plate and the frame of the paver apparatus, a set screw device for setting a batter angle of the side plate by pivoting the tube assembly and a thumbscrew device for maintaining a seal between the side plate and the finishing pan by closing any gap therebetween.

In a slip-form paving apparatus, a forwardly disposed pavement forming assembly, such as an auger assembly and a strike-off plate, are pivotably mounted to the apparatus frame for movement between an operative disposition disposed adjacent a ground surface for distributing and forming paving material thereon generally into a desired form of pavement and an inoperative position more elevated from the ground surface for permitting access beneath the apparatus for depositing a starting quantity of the paving material during an initial start-up of the apparatus.

An improved arrangement for adjusting crawler-type transport assemblies in a self-propelled construction vehicle between two differing &ldquo;home&rdquo; positions. The crawler transport assembly comprises a steering mechanism including a collar assembly operated via an actuator mounted to the frame of the apparatus for driving steering rotation of the transport assembly via the collar assembly. The collar assembly comprises a driving element integrally coupled to the actuator and a driven element integrally coupled to the transport assembly. The driven element can be affixed to the driving element selectively in two differing dispositions corresponding to the two &ldquo;home&rdquo; positions of the transport assembly.

Adjusting arrangement for steerable transport assembly for self-propelled construction vehicle

The present invention provides a novel arrangement for selective mounting and demounting of a mold to a self-propelled slip-form paving machine. The paving machine basically comprises a frame, a drive engine, a hopper for concrete or another suitably flowable paving material and the aforementioned mold in the desired configuration of the pavement (curb, gutter, etc.) to be formed. The mounting and demounting arrangement comprises a set of hydraulically pivotable latching levers which engage with latching bars on the mold for quickly coupling of the mold to and from the machine frame without the necessity of manual manipulation of mounting bolts.
