An RF charging system for implantable medical devices. The RF charging system includes a radio frequency (RF) signal, a first antenna configured to transmit the RF signal, a second antenna configured to receive the RF signal transmitted by the first antenna, tune characteristics of the RF signal, and improve power transfer with impedance matching circuitry, an RF to direct current (DC) converter configured to convert the RF signal of the second antenna into a DC signal, and a battery management circuit configured to receive the DC signal and provide voltage to a battery.

Method and system for wireless charging of implantable medical devices

A method for remotely updating the behavior and state of a medical device or the firmware itself of a medical device, not requiring physical access to the device, that occurs through an encrypted and authenticated communication channel. The behavior and state of the device may be modified from a healthcare provider interface through a transmission method. The firmware of the medical device may be modified by the use of over the air device firmware updates, created from a designated secure machine called a build machine described herein. Both actions are transmitted to a server and then forwarded to a companion device and are particularly designed so that the server never stores sensitive cryptographic material in the event of server compromise. The companion device forwards the update to the medical device, which decrypts and validates the update or command before performing the change.

Medical implant software systems and methods

A bidirectional electroosmotic pump may be provided. The bidirectional electroosmotic pump may be made of materials that are biocompatible and non-ferrous. The bidirectional electroosmotic pump may be part of an implantable medical device for the purpose of medicine delivery. The bidirectional electroosmotic pump may contain a working fluid and may facilitate the delivery of a separate payload fluid. In an exemplary embodiment, the bidirectional pump may contain bellows which may allow the pump to deliver the payload fluid through a series of valves and/or catheters. In another embodiment the bidirectional electroosmotic pump may contain a pump sensing mechanism to monitor the state of the pump.

Pump for implantable medical devices

A method for remotely bonding a companion device to an implanted medical device to achieve long-term encrypted and authenticated communication channel, that is resilient to companion device failure or compromise and hence mitigates the risk or need for unplanned, revision surgery and/or premature device explantation. Through use of a shared cryptographic key between the two systems, the companion device may request an encrypted challenge number from the implant. Completing the challenge via transmitting an encrypted validation number permits the implanted medical device to bond and perform a new long-term key exchange. The shared cryptographic key can be changed as well, in event of compromise or other adverse event, using a described device firmware update procedure.

A reservoir and method for manufacturing a reservoir that includes a first side piece, a second side piece, an inner fold piece and a reservoir fitting. The first side piece may be sealed to the second side piece with a top seal and a first side seal and a second side seal. The inner fold piece may be sealed to the first side piece and the second side piece through a third side seal, a fourth side seal, and a bottom seal. The top seal may include a fitting opening and the reservoir fitting may be fit into the fitting opening. The reservoir may contain a volume sensing system. The reservoir may be designed so as to empty and fill reliably without any concern for neighboring organ impingement or compression.
