A toaster oven that has a steam generating system is described. The steam from a steam generating system is passed into the oven during the heating and rewarming of meats and casserole dishes to prevent them from drying out.

An upper extractor module includes a cover and a juice extractor fluted dome and trough. A pulp filter filters the juice which flows into a lower extension conduit. An intermediate module has a compartment in fluid isolation from the juice extraction compartment. A motor, drive gears and switch are in the intermediate compartment for rotationally driving the extractor. A pitcher forms a lower module on which the intermediate module fits. The juice flows into the pitcher through the intermediate module via the extension. A paddle depends from the intermediate module and is driven by the motor and gears simultaneously with the extractor, but at a higher speed for mixing beverages in the pitcher formed from the extracted juice and other ingredients such as water, sweeteners and so on. Different extractors may be attached for different size fruits. A lid may be attached over the pitcher for juice/beverage storage.

Deep fryer

An electronic coffee maker having a control circuit that allows for selective warming of brewed coffee. The control circuit has a micro-control unit that controls the heating coils of the coffee maker. Selector buttons allow the user to choose the delay time and the power levels for keeping the brewed coffee warm. This selectivity prevents the brewed coffee from becoming overly cooked.

An improved household coffee maker is disclosed, having a built-in water filter for removing water-borne contaminants. The water filter is disposed between the water reservoir and the heating coil, which heats the water and keeps the coffee carafe warm. An indicator disposed upon the cover of the coffee maker signals when the water filter has become saturated with contaminants and requires replacement or cleaning.

An indoor grille having a steam-generating reservoir is described. The reservoir is heated by the heating elements used to heat the grille structure of the unit. The combination of steaming and grilling provides a flavorful quality to meats and other foods prepared therein. The heating elements of the grille are disposed in the metal body of the unit, which acts like a heat sink. The heat sink ensures that the unit attains cooking temperatures faster.

Indoor grille

The present invention features an electrical, frying appliance that uniformly cooks food items placed within its food basket. This frying appliance automatically immerses and extracts the cooking basket into and out of an aluminum oil bowl containing heated oil. In this fashion, the food in the basket is uniformly fried during the cooking cycle. The frying appliance contains a translationally movable basket that operates by a transmission wire driven by a shaft. The translational movement of the food basket allows the food in it to lie flat as it is immersed in the aluminum oil bowl. The food basket remains substantially horizontal during its movement between its immersed and non-immersed positions. In this fashion, the food items are prevented from shifting around in the frying basket. This allows the food to fry evenly within the basket and, when cycled, to be drained of oil periodically. The shaft mechanism that moves the food basket is directly powered by a motor that is offset from the aluminum oil bowl housing, allowing for a cooler, operational motor temperature.

A food steaming device is described that has a base unit that commonly supports a removable food steaming cabinet and a removable, adjacent water supply tank for ease of cleaning. The food steamer appliance also features automatic water flow regulation from the water supply tank, and continual steam supply from the base unit, despite removal of the water tank.

A detachable handle accessory is provided which permits a user to operate a portable, hand-held steam vacuum cleaner as an upright steam vacuum cleaner. The detachable handle accessory includes a support base, a handle portion extending upwardly from the support base and a wheel assembly affixed to the support base. The support base includes mounting structure which allows a nozzle of a hand-held steam vacuum cleaner to be located intermediate the support base and surface to be cleaned so as to permit an unobstructed flow of steam from the portable vacuum cleaner to the surface. The handle portion is used to control and steer the nozzle over the surface while the wheel assembly allows a user to roll the support base and steam vacuum cleaner over the surface from an upright position, and to engage a squeegee member at the distal end of the nozzle with the surface to be cleaned to facilitate gathering of liquid and enhance the suctioning process of the vacuum cleaner.

The present invention features an electric, hair-curling apparatus. The hair curler is designed to prevent the heated wand from coming into unwanted contact with other surfaces and parts of the body. Its purpose is to prevent accidental injuries or burns to the body surfaces of a user or to furniture, etc. The electric hair-curler is fabricated having many insulative ribs that are periodically spaced apart and located along a longitudinal axis of the wand. These ribs are operative in shielding the heated surface of the wand from contact with unwanted surfaces, including parts of the user's body. Having a sinusoidally-shaped or undulating periphery, the ribs allow hair to easily flow into the interstitial wells between the ribs; hair flowing into the wells is free to contact the wand surface. The ribs are also designed with a wide, circumferential portion that is positioned substantially flush with the wand surface at the section of contact with the clamp. At that wand contact position with the clamp, the ribs present an open, or a completely flush, position. This creates a restriction-free area or surface in which hair can enter and be withdrawn from the clamp, without interference or inhibition from the ribs.

The present invention features an electrical, frying appliance that uniformly cooks food items placed within its frying basket. This frying appliance cyclically immerses and extracts the cooking basket into and out of a pan containing heated oil. In this fashion, the food in the basket is uniformly fried during the cooking cycle. The frying appliance contains a translationally moveable basket that operates by a parallel linkage driven by a gear train and worm drive mechanism. The translational movement of the basket allows the food in it to lie flat as it is immersed in the oil. The frying basket remains substantially horizontal during its movement between its immersed and non-immersed positions. In this fashion, the food items are prevented from shifting around in the frying basket. This allows the food to fry evenly within the basket and, when cycled, to be drained of oil periodically. The gear train and worm drive mechanisms that move the basket are both powered by a motor that is offset from the oil pan housing, allowing for a cooler, operational motor temperature. The motor is less subject to heated oil vapors and oil leakage that are usually associated with motors located at the bottom of an oil pan housing. The gear train and worm drive mechanisms are also offset from the oil pan, and are protected from heated oil vapors by the outside wall of the oil pan housing.

The present invention features a bread-making machine that has a kneading paddle which remains in the bucket after the baking cycle. The bread-making machine automatically entraps, or vertically constrains, the kneading paddle to the rotating drive shaft. Upon the initial rotation of the drive shaft, the paddle shifts backwardly with respect to the drive shaft under a reactive, inertial force. The paddle will rotate approximately twenty-five degrees in a counterclockwise direction with respect to the shaft. This is made possible by the looseness of the fit of the drive shaft within the paddle's bore. A lip positioned on the top of the drive shaft will engage the top surface of the paddle hub, when the paddle is caused to shift. This engagement will capture the paddle, causing it to become vertically constrained to the drive shaft. Upon completion of the baking cycle, the baked bread can be removed without the paddle, which remains affixed to the drive shaft. The paddle hub has a bore that has an approximately rectangular, cross-sectional shape. The bore receives the substantially rectangular drive shaft. The paddle is initially deposited over the drive shaft, and the dough is placed in the bucket. The paddle is automatically, vertically locked into place, when the kneading cycle is commenced.

Paddle for bread-making machine

The present invention features a combination bread-baker and a convection oven that bakes or cooks food thoroughly and evenly. Air is circulated through the baking or cooking chamber via a fan disposed in the side of the baking/cooking chamber. Steam can be introduced into the baking/cooking chamber during a cooking cycle by means of a steam-generator. A water reservoir supplies water to a steam-generating tube that is contiguously adjacent a portion of the heating coil. A microprocessor digitally controls both the baking and the cooking cycles. A pair of sensors positioned about the baking/cooking chamber send signals to the microprocessor that indicate levels of both heat and humidity within the chamber. The sensors continuously monitor the baking or cooking conditions within the chamber. The microprocessor uses the updated information to continuously adjust either the amount of steam being introduced, or the speed of the fan for adjusting the circulating air. A rotational drive-motor used to turn a wand that kneads the dough when making bread can also be used to stir soups and gravies during a cooking cycle. The wand can also be replaced by a spit to support and rotate a roast or fowl during a cooking cycle, giving rise to a rotisserie operation. The convection currents of the oven, the steam injection and the rotisserie function all ensure that food is thoroughly and evenly cooked.
