Systems and methods for analyzing printed images are provided. One system includes a processing circuit configured to: determine a set of one or more locations on the printed image on the substrate to measure color values; determine a set of input tone values for the at least one ink; receive a set of measured color values corresponding to the set of locations on the printed image from a sensor; and determine a tone value increase error based on the set of measured color values and the set of input tone values. The at least one processing circuit is configured to determine the tone value increase error without requiring measured color values from an area having solid ink.

Systems and methods for providing remote approval of an image for printing are provided. One system includes a processing circuit in communication with an image capturing device that is configured to capture an image of a printed product. The processing circuit is configured to process the captured image into a processed image accurate to within a tolerance in a color space to indicate the visual appearance of one or more colors. The color space is a standardized color space, such as sRGB or CIELAB. The processing circuit is further configured to transmit the processed image to a display located remote from the image capturing device and to receive an input signal from a remote input device to allow a user to approve or reject the displayed processed image for printing on a print device.

Color correct imaging

A computer-implemented system for determining ink availability in one or more ink reservoirs in a print system is described. The system includes at least one ink reservoir for each color ink used in the printing system, a print unit associated with each ink reservoir configured to apply a print image including at least one color of ink to a substrate based on print image information, and an ink level monitoring system configured to determine an ink availability in each ink reservoir based on printed image count information including a number of printings of the print image and a total wet ink utilization generated based on a characterization of a print condition and further based on a measured dry ink utilization per area of coverage using the print image information and corrected by an ink usage correction multiplier.

System and method for monitoring ink use in a printing system

A computer-implemented system for determining ink availability in one or more ink reservoirs in a print system is described. The system includes at least one ink reservoir for each color ink used in the printing system, a print unit associated with each ink reservoir configured to apply a print image including at least one color of ink to a substrate based on print image information, and an ink level monitoring system configured to determine an ink availability in each ink reservoir based on printed image count information and a total wet ink utilization based on a measured dry ink utilization per area of coverage using the print image information and corrected by an ink usage correction multiplier generated based on characterization of a print condition.

Remote approval of print

Systems and methods for imaging an imprinted substrate on a printing press is provided. One method comprises sensing light reflected by the substrate using a contact image sensor to produce data representative of the imprinted substrate. The substrate has been imprinted with different colors at a plurality of printing units of the printing press. Each printing unit comprises a plate cylinder. The data representative of the imprinted substrate is output by the contact image sensor as analog voltage signals. The method further comprises receiving the analog voltage signals from the contact image sensor at a sensor interface circuit and converting the analog voltage signals to digital signals using an analog-to-digital converter of the sensor interface circuit. The method further comprises processing the digital signals using the sensor interface circuit to produce corrected digital signals and storing data based on the corrected digital signals in a memory.

Imaging an imprinted substrate on a printing press using an image sensor

Systems and methods for performing imaging on print devices are provided. One system comprises a processing circuit in communication with an image capturing device. The image capturing device is configured to capture an image of at least a portion of a printed product of a web or offset print device and output at least one signal representative of the captured image. The processing circuit is configured to receive the at least one signal representative of the captured image and an input signal representative of a print parameter change and to determine a change to the captured image representative of how the captured image would be printed on the web or offset print device with the print parameter change represented by the input signal.

Print imaging system

A printing machine includes a high-speed print device configured to receive a print media and discharge a printed product that includes a printed image. An image capturing device is positioned adjacent the print device and is configured to capture an image of the printed image on the printed product. A computer includes a monitor, a processor, an input device, and a communication device configured to communicate with the print device. The monitor is configured to display the captured image, the input device is configured to allow a user to vary the displayed image, and the processor is configured to calculate an adjustment to the print device in response to the varied image.
