A bicycle drivetrain including a first shaft and a second shaft which rotate in opposing directions, a first pedal connected to a first pedal crank connected to the first shaft and a second pedal connected to a second pedal crank connected to a second shaft, an engaged first spur gear and second spur gear attached to the first shaft and the second shaft, respectively, a first slip clutch mounted to the first shaft and connected to a main sprocket and a second slip clutch mounted to the second shaft, a first sprocket and a second sprocket having the same direction of rotation and attached to the first slip clutch and the second slip clutch, respectively, a rear sprocket attached to a rear wheel and connected to the main sprocket, and a plurality of mechanical stops which prevent unwanted rotation of the bicycle drivetrain.

Bicycle drivetrain

A resilient static seal for sealing the closure on a pressure vessel. The seal is provided with a curved cross section with the convex side of the curve exposed to the higher pressure which may exist within the interior or exterior of the pressure vessel. The seal is also provided with opposed inwardly curved side edges which engage the side walls and a bottom wall of a vessel closure seal groove in which the continuous seal is seated.

Amplified pressure force seal

A flexible biaxially corrugated sheet material is formed from a plurality of identical trapezium segments which are arranged in a plurality of long strips a single segment wide. Adjacent strips are mirror images of each other and connected along adjoining sides with the angles of the four corners of adjacent segments being alternately less than 360.degree. and greater than 360.degree. along the length of a strip such that the sheet material has an undulating configuration, and is inherently curved and cannot lie in a flat plane.

Biaxially corrugated flexible sheet material

A system for analyzing containment integrity of a containment system includes data storage for inspection data and characteristic data and a data evaluation processor for evaluating the inspection data. A data acquisition system is used for periodically obtaining wall thicknesses of selected components in the containment system. After data validation, the actual wall thicknesses are stored as the inspection data in the data storage. The data evaluation processor analyzes the present pipe wall integrity in light of stress calculated from the characteristic data including operational conditions and material properties. In addition, the data evaluation processor analyzes the trend in change of wall thickness to forecast future wall thicknesses.

Corrosion-erosion trend monitoring and diagnostic system

The present invention is a cycle monitoring system and method that acquires, logs and analyzes analog and/or digital signals from component sensors in a process control plant such as a nuclear power plant. The system continuously monitors the sensors and records steady-state and transient phenomena. Compression of the data is performed to reduce storage load. The compression ratio for transient data is driven by a threshold indicating a measurement signficant to stress determination. Transient data is retained at a higher sampling rate, so that the parameters of transient such as the maximum value can be determined for stress analysis. The stress analysis determines pressure and thermal stresses which are used to calculate a usage factor which indicates the stress age and thus the remaining life of a component. The system provides estimates of fatigue accumulation associated with selected locations of critical power plant components. Measurements of plant process and response parameters are used to provide data for calculation of fatigue accumulation. The system includes a computer containing a database that includes thresholds and response characteristics of the plant components to varying types of stress. The process required to calculate fatigue for monitored components and locations uses Duhamels integral to calculate transient stress, combines the transient stress with other stresses to produce a usage factor from stress ranges designating when a stress cycle has occurred. The system can be used to plan routine maintenance, repair and replacement decision, and to justify alternative plant operation modes and life extension.

Cycle monitoring method and apparatus

The total transmissibility optical system or lens is an assembly of curved members or mirrors arranged such that a beam of radiation will reflect through the apparatus and come to a focus on an opposite side. An inner member, comprised of a pair of conical reflectors joined at their respective bases, is disposed within an outer member such that their axes are parallel to the radiation beam. The outer member is comprised of a first inner reflective surface in the shape of a hollow segment of a paraboloid of revolution and a second inner reflective surface in the shape of a hollow truncated cone. The two inner reflective surfaces of the outer member are also joined at their respective bases. The mirrors are made of a highly polished metal which will reflect any type of radiation beam, such as infrared radiation as in a night vision device. The lens can be used in harsh environments, such as an irradiated environment, since the lens will not be affected thereby as will a glass lens. The lens can exactly replicate the focusing behavior of a glass lens without the absorption of light that may occur during the passage of a light beam through a glass lens.

Total transmissibility optical system

A tension loaded energy dissipating support member includes multiple successively longer metal straps all connected at each end to an end connector with the longer straps, and preferably the shortest strap, bowing outward laterally such that as the tensile load increases, the straps, beginning with the shortest, successively plastically deform to dissipate shock energy. The initial bowing, type of material, and relative dimensions of the straps can be varied to obtain the desired load supporting and energy dissipating characteristics.
