A damper film bearing assembly for supporting a rotatable shaft includes a bearing housing having a longitudinal opening passing therethrough for receiving the rotatable shaft. The bearing housing also has at least one radial recess formed in an outer surface thereof. At least one resilient element is disposed within the recess in the bearing housing above the floor of the recess, the resilient element biasing the support piston away from the axis of the rotatable shaft. The resilient element in accordance with the disclosure may be a bridge spring or a rod spring as appropriate.

A damper film bearing assembly for supporting a rotatable shaft includes a bearing housing having a longitudinal opening passing therethrough for receiving the rotatable shaft. The bearing housing also has at least one radial recess formed in an outer surface thereof, the recess having a floor. The assembly further includes at least one support piston slideably disposed within the recess in the bearing housing, the support piston slideable within the recess radially toward and away from a central longitudinal axis of the rotatable shaft. At least one resilient element is disposed within the recess in the bearing housing between the floor of the recess and the support piston, the resilient element biasing the support piston away from the axis of the rotatable shaft.

Disc spring centering device for squeeze film dampers

A non-flooded bearing assembly for rotatably supporting a rotating body and selected from tilting pad journal, tilting pad thrust and sleeve bearings, has a body made from Ampcoloy&trade; and provided with babbitted bearing and outer surfaces. The bearing assembly has a combination of passages extending between the outer and bearing surfaces for delivering a pressurized liquid lubricant to the bearing surface. A plurality of heat transfer chambers are provided in the body separately from and at a distance from the bearing surface to convey the pressurized liquid lubricant carrying the heat generated by the bearing surface away from the assembly.

Sleeve bearing with bypass cooling

A bearing assembly for supporting a rotatable member, which includes a bearing casing with an inner surface and a fluid drain outlet, and pads mounted on the inner surface of the casing, is provided. Each pad has a face facing the rotatable member and has a leading edge and a trailing edge with respect to the rotation of the rotatable member. A spray bar is positioned adjacent the leading edge of each of the pads, and the spray bar has a fluid ejecting conduit positioned to forcibly eject lubricating fluid toward the leading edge and onto the pad face. The spray bar also includes a fluid blocking segment adjacent the rotatable member for blocking heated fluid from being carried by the rotation of the rotatable member to the leading edge of the next pad in the direction of the rotation, and a fluid removal segment in fluid communication with the fluid drain outlet. The fluid removal segment is obtusely inclined with respect to the fluid blocking segment for directing the heated fluid to the fluid drain outlet to expedite removal of the heated fluid from the bearing assembly.

Pad bearing assembly with fluid spray and blocker bar

A fluid-film, pocket bearing of the three axial-groove-type, which has three bearing pads but only two pressure pockets. The design of the bearing provides significant stabilization and a capacity for supporting heavy loads with the predominant pocket loading being horizontal thereof. One of the pads, in the lower half of the bearing, encompasses the location whereat loading thereof obtains, and this one pad has no pressure pocket. The trailing edges of the two pockets (in the other pads) are smoothly blended into the pad surfaces.
