A locking mechanism includes a bracket configured for mounting on a wall of a securable box and receiving a lock body to selectively secure a cover to the securable box preventing access to an interior of the box. The mechanism further includes a blade that is movable relative to the bracket between a locked position and an unlocked position to secure or remove the blade and bracket to or from a securable box wall respectively. The blade and bracket can be secured to and removed from the securable box without an operator's hand extending into the interior of the box.

Locking mechanism for a meter box

A valve lock assembly includes a cover for selective placement over a valve. The cover has opposing sidewalls, each sidewall including at least one cover aperture. The assembly further includes a strap to secure the cover to the valve, the strap having opposing end portions each of which include at least one strap aperture. A locking pin is to be placed through both the strap apertures and the cover apertures when they are aligned. The assembly also includes a lock body, which features a first bore to receive the locking pin, and a second bore which receives a locking mechanism that prevents removal of the locking pin from the lock body. The lock body is freely rotatable about the locking pin so that the valve lock assembly may be installed or removed from a wide range of angles.

Valve lock assembly

A meter box cover including a first portion that engages an inner surface of an opening in a lid of a meter box to prevent the passage of the cover through the opening and a second portion that extends through the opening and beyond an outermost surface of the opening in the lid of the meter box. The meter cover blocks substantially an entirety of the opening and the second portion prevents the cover from being displaced within the opening.

Meter box cover

A lock receptacle assembly having a body portion having a first end that includes a bore configured to receive a lock, an end cap removably securable to the first end of the body portion. The end cap having a through bore to allow passage of the lock, such that, when assembled, the lock can lock the end cap and the body portion together. The end cap interlocks with the first end of the body portion so that there is substantially no load on the lock when axial force is applied to the assembly.

Lock receptacle assembly

A lock assembly including a body portion having a bore configured to receive a lock. The assembly further includes a blade operably connected to the body portion and a head portion removably securable to the body portion. The head portion has a slot configured to receive the blade when assembled and the head portion also has a through bore to allow insertion of the lock such that the lock can lock the head portion and the body portion together during installation. The lock assembly may be used to secure multiple different lockable structures.

Lock assembly

A universal box lock for securing a meter box including a first clamping means, a second clamping means operatively connected to the first clamping means. The second clamping means being movable relative to the first clamping means. The box lock also includes a biasing means for urging the second clamping means toward the first clamping means to secure the box lock to a wall of a meter box placed between the first and second clamping means. Moreover, the box lock includes a body portion, which selectively engages and secures the first and second clamping means to a meter box wall. The first clamping means includes an aperture configured to allow a portion of the second clamping means to extend through the aperture facilitating the attachment of the inventive box lock to a side wall or a bottom wall of a meter box.

Universal box lock

A security device comprises a first component having a through first passageway surrounded by an internal first recess, and a second component having a second passageway surrounded by an internal second recess. The first and second components are configured for assembly in a mating relationship with the first and second passageways in communication with each other and in coaxial alignment. A lock has a barrel containing a spring and plunger and carrying radially shiftable locking elements, with the plunger being normally biased by the spring in one direction urging the locking elements into expanded positions protruding radially from the barrel. The barrel is insertable into and releasably retained in an unlocked position in the first passageway with the locking elements expanded radially outwardly into the first recess, and is shiftable by a forwardly applied axial force into a locked position in the second passageway with the locking elements expanded into the second recess. The first recess has a forward surface configured to coact with the locking elements in response to the forwardly applied force to exert a reactionary force urging the locking elements radially inwardly and urging the plunger in the opposite direction to accommodate retraction of the locking elements from the first recess.

Lock assembly with self retained barrel lock

A locking device is disclosed for interlocking two members having aligned openings extending therethrough. The device includes a hollow cap and a pin with an enlarged head at one end and a nose at the opposite end. The pin is insertable through the aligned openings of the members, with its nose received in interlocked engagement within the cap, and with the two members captured between the cap and the enlarged head of the pin. A frangible portion of the pin is severable in response to relative rotation between its nose and enlarged head to thereby destructively disassemble the locking device.

Destructible locking device

A tamper evident seal for assembled components having aligned apertures. The seal includes a hollow housing, a stem, a flexible elongated element, a means for rotating the stem, and a means for opposing the rotation of the stem. The hollow housing has a circular side wall surrounding a central axis, and the side wall has a first wall opening. The stem is contained within the housing for rotation about the axis, and the stem has a stem opening aligned at an initial setting with the first wall opening. The flexible elongated element protrudes from the housing. The means for rotating the stem operates in one direction. The means for opposing rotation of said stem relative to the housing opposes rotation in the opposite direction. In use, the free end of the flexible element is passed through the aligned apertures of the assembled components and then through the circular side wall and stem via the wall and stem openings. The stem is then rotated in the one direction relative to the housing to wrap a segment of the element about the stem.

Locking ring for utility meter

A locking ring assembly of the type employed to prevent unauthorized access to a meter, comprising a split ring retaining ring, to one end of which a housing is secured; the housing having a lock receiving opening and a side opening therein; a ring clip with a lock receiving opening is secured to a second end of the ring and enters the housing through the side opening. A cylindrical barrel lock is received in the housing through the lock receiving openings to maintain the ring on closed condition.

Locking ring assembly for utility meters

A lock assembly for preventing unauthorized opening of a utility meter box cover. The assembly includes a lock housing detachably mounted to a box side wall by a fastener which is accessible from the box interior. A post is shiftable in a passageway extending through the lock housing between an operative position overlapping the cover and a retracted position clear of the cover. A barrel lock is removably received in the lock housing to prevent shifting of the post from its operative to its inoperative position.
