The concepts, systems and methods described herein are directed towards a method for secure booting running on a security device. The method is provided to include: receiving a public key from a security device; validating the security device by comparing the received public key with a hash code; in response that the security device is validated, receiving custom codes from the security device and storing the custom codes in a microprocessor, wherein the microprocessor is located in a programmable memory of a primary processor; programming the programmable memory by executing the custom codes; and executing a boot sequence of the primary processor by the programmable memory.

Controlling security state of commercial off the shelf (COTS) system

A guard sensor injects a multi-GHz (multi giga-bit) guard signal along a guard signal transmission path above an observable knee in the amplitude response of the path to define a guarded region and to detect physical or electromagnetic intrusions of that guarded region. At frequencies above the knee, the signal transmission path exhibits increasingly non-linear and even chaotic behavior that improves the overall sensitivity of the sensor and its ability to detect slight changes in the distributed transmission parameters that characterize circuit devices, signal paths and signals. The guarded region may be used to protect a combination of circuit devices, physical connections, interfaces, high and low frequency signal transmission paths and signals.

Multi-GHz guard sensor for detecting physical or electromagnetic intrusions of a guarded region

The concepts, systems and methods described herein are directed towards a method running on a security device. The method is provided to including: executing a first secure boot code from a first memory by one of a plurality of cores of a processor, wherein the plurality of cores runs in a secure world; executing a first-stage boot loader (FSBL) from a second memory; executing a security monitoring application to validate the security device; in response to the security device being validated, switching some of the plurality of cores from the secure world to a normal world, wherein at least one of the plurality of cores remains in the secure world to communicate with the security monitoring application; executing a second-stage boot loader (SSBL); and monitoring, via the security monitoring application, status of the security device and communications between the security device and at least one external system.

Trusted booting by hardware root of trust (HRoT) device

A system for detecting changes to circuitry includes: a processor; and a memory, and the memory has stored thereon instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: periodically measure physical characteristic data of the circuitry, operational data of the circuitry, and environmental data; periodically capture the measured data; generate a dynamic fingerprint based on an aggregation of a first set of the captured data, and the dynamic fingerprint is a compound data structure encapsulating the aggregated data; associate metadata with the dynamic fingerprint; periodically update the dynamic fingerprint according to successive sets of the captured data; and compare the updated dynamic fingerprint to a previous dynamic fingerprint, to detect the changes to the circuitry.

Detection system for detecting changes to circuitry and method of using the same

A system for authenticating a circuit includes: a processor; and a memory, and the memory has stored thereon instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: periodically measure physical characteristic data of the circuit, operational data of the circuit, and environmental data; periodically capture the measured data; generate a dynamic fingerprint based on an aggregation of the captured data, and the dynamic fingerprint is a compound data structure encapsulating the aggregated data; associate metadata with the dynamic fingerprint; and output the dynamic fingerprint as a physically unclonable function (PUF) of the circuit.

Authentication system and method

This disclosure provides for implementing a firmware security interface within a field-programmable gate array (FPGA) for communicating between secure and non-secure environments executable within the FPGA. A security monitor is implemented within the programmable logic of the FPGA as a soft core processor and the firmware security interface modifies one or more functions of the security monitor. The modifications to the security monitor include establishing a timer 'heartbeat' within the FPGA to ensure that the FPGA invokes a secure environment and raising an alarm should the FPGA fail to invoke such environment.

Firmware security interface for field programmable gate arrays

A gas diffusion vacuum device includes a supply of gas, a nonpermeable enclosure, a supply of liquid, an open liquid reservoir and a gas permeable cover. A first end of the nonpermeable enclosure is retained in the open liquid reservoir. The volume of gas is supplied through a side wall of the nonpermeable enclosure. The gas is preferably carbon dioxide. The gas permeable cover preferably includes a diffusion barrier and a porous diffusion barrier support. The diffusion barrier is wrapped over the porous diffusion barrier support and secured to a side wall of the nonpermeable enclosure. As the gas diffuses through the gas permeable cover, a vacuum is created to raise a column of liquid. A second embodiment of the gas diffusion vacuum device includes a supply of gas, a nonpermeable enclosure and a gas permeable cover. A vacuum created is used to perform work with an air driven device.

Gas diffusion vacuum device

A portable therapeutic heating device is provided that may be readily worn and transported by a user. A flexible heating unit is attached to a body part and is capable of raising the skin temperature of that body part to about 102.degree.-108.degree. F. The flexible heating unit includes a plurality of distinct sets of electric resistance heating elements. The flexible heating unit is connected by a flexible tape to a battery pack which is mounted to the approximate center of gravity of the user's body. A switch is mounted on the battery pack, and provides for selection of which sets of electric resistance heating elements will be energized by a battery received by the battery pack, to thereby vary the amount of heat applied by the heating unit to a body part. The switch is mounted in a cutout formed in a casing defining the battery pack. A pair of rechargeable lead-acid 'D' batteries are desirably received by the battery pack, and circuitry is provided for indicating when the voltage of a rechargeable battery received by the battery pack reaches a predetermined value below the rated value of the battery. A printed circuit board is mounted completely covering the batteries in the battery pack casing, between the batteries and the casing top, with all of the necessary electrical components operatively connected to the printed circuit board.
