The present subject matter relates to systems, assemblies, and methods for the installation of insulation on the outside surface of exterior metal stud walls. In such systems, assemblies, and methods, an insulation framing element comprises an insulation support member configured to support an edge of one or more insulation layers, a frame coupling member extending from the insulation support member and configured for coupling to one or more frame elements of a structural support wall, and an insulation retention member extending from the insulation support member and configured to retain the edge of the one or more the insulation layers in a desired position with respect to the insulation support member.

Insulation framing systems, assemblies, and methods

A building assembly utilized in connecting building members together while permitting limited relative movement between the members. The assembly includes a structure such as a track or plate that includes one or more longitudinal slots. Integrally formed in the longitudinal slot is a breakaway washer that receives a fastener that extends into an adjacent structure. When a certain force is applied to the breakaway washer, the breakaway washer breaks away from the slot and this permits the slot to move about the breakaway washer and fastener which results in there being relative movement between two connected structures.

Connector assembly for connecting building members

A building structure is provided that includes a floor structure and a series of studs extending vertically adjacent the floor structure. A clip is provided. The clip is connected to the floor structure and projects outwardly therefrom and includes a stud retainer for engaging and retaining a flange of a stud. The stud retainer includes a channel through which the flange of the stud extends. The stud retainer is connected to the flange of the stud in such a manner that the stud can move vertically in the channel.

Building structure having studs vertically movable with respect to a floor structure

A connector for a wall structure wherein the connector connects to and reinforces a stud within the wall structure, or in some cases, the connector actually functions as a stud. The connector includes an elongated web and a pair of flanges that project from the web. About the lower portion of the connector there is provided a series of tabs that extend from the web and the two flanges and are turned so as to overlap and form a transfer structure that extends between the flanges about the lower end of the connector. In use, the connector can be connected to respective studs in a wall structure and at the same time anchor to an underlying structure such as a floor. In other cases, the connector itself can be utilized in the wall structure as a stud.

Connector for connecting building components

A deck pan assembly for receiving and supporting concrete that is utilized as a floor system in a building. The deck pan assembly comprises a plurality of deck pans with each deck pan including a bottom and an upturned edge. The deck pans are disposed in side-by-side relationship and spaced such that the turned up edges of two deck pans lie adjacent each other and form a connecting structure that permits the two deck pans to be connected together. Further the assembly includes an elongated stiffening connector extending along the connecting structure and at least partially covering the turned up edges that form the connecting structure. The elongated stiffening connector includes a pair of spaced apart sides, and the connecting structure, formed by the upturned edges of two deck pans, is inserted between the spaced apart sides such that the spaced apart sides extend downwardly adjacent outer surfaces of the connecting structure. Fasteners are employed to connect the stiffening connector to the connecting structure of the deck pan. The elongated stiffening connector and the deck pans are constructed of sheet metal and wherein the sheet metal that forms the elongated stiffening connector is of a heavier gauge metal than the sheet metal that forms the deck pans.

Composite metal deck and concrete floor system

A tensioning device is provided for tensioning the metal strap of a metal wall structure. The tensioning device includes an elongated bar having a handle and a pair of jaws where one jaw is secured to the elongated bar and another jaw projects from the handle. The jaws are operatively connected between the metal strap and the wall structure. In particular, one jaw is operatively connected or anchored to the wall structure and the other jaw is connected to the metal strap. The handle includes a trigger mechanism for moving the jaws with respect to each other. By actuating the trigger mechanism and closing the jaws, the metal strap is tensioned. After the metal strap is tensioned, it is securely fastened to the wall structure.

Tensioning device for tensioning a strap of a metal wall structure

A metal clip is provided for facilitating the attachment of metal strips and wallboard to columns and beams. The metal clip includes a base section and a spring retainer extending from the base section. A portion of a column or beam, such as flange, can be inserted between the spring retainer and the base section and the spring retainer will exert sufficient force on the column or beam to hold the metal clip in place. A pair of foldout clips is formed on exterior surfaces of the metal clip for receiving and holding angle strips. Wallboard can be secured exteriorly of the metal clips and angle strips by screws that extend through the wallboard, through the angle strips and into the respective metal clips.
