A method for operating a driving tool that can be employed for driving fasteners, such as nails. The method can include: providing a housing that defines a housing cavity with a rod aperture; mounting a plurality of seals to a cylinder sleeve; inserting the cylinder sleeve into the housing cavity; inserting a piston assembly to the cylinder sleeve, the piston assembly including a driver that extends into the rod aperture; coupling a cap assembly to the housing to enclose an end of the housing cavity opposite the rod aperture, the cap assembly including an exhaust outlet; biasing the cylinder sleeve toward the cap assembly to inhibit fluid communication between the housing cavity and the exhaust outlet and permit fluid communication between an interior of the cylinder sleeve and the exhaust outlet; and translating the cylinder sleeve away from the cap assembly to permit fluid communication between the housing cavity and the interior of the cylinder sleeve and inhibit fluid communication between the interior of the cylinder sleeve and the exhaust outlet.

Method for operating the engine of fastening tool

A pneumatic fastening tool assembly that employs an engine having a sliding sleeve arrangement to control the supply of air to and exhaust from the pneumatic engine. The sliding sleeve arrangement eliminates the need for a conventional main valve and thereby reduces the overall weight and length of the pneumatic fastening tool relative to those tools that employ a conventional engine configuration.

A fastening tool including a housing, a magazine connected to the housing for storing a fastener, a driving mechanism disposed within the housing for driving the fastener into a workpiece, a trigger assembly pivotally attached to the housing for activating the driving mechanism, the trigger assembly comprising a main trigger, pivotally attached to the housing and a supplemental trigger pivotally attached to the main trigger; and a contact trip assembly comprising an upper contact trip contacting the supplemental trigger, a lower contact trip connected to the upper contact trip, wherein the upper and lower contact trips have teeth that mesh together for locking the upper and lower contact trips.

A magazine assembly for a fastening tool. The magazine assembly slides on guide posts that are formed into the nose assembly of the fastening tool and is clamped to the fastening tool via a magazine clamp assembly that requires no tools to operate. The magazine clamp assembly may be partially released to permit the magazine assembly to be partially withdrawn from the nose assembly so that the nose assembly may be maintained without the complete removal of the magazine assembly. The construction of the nose assembly is such that when the magazine assembly is placed in a partially withdrawn state, a portion of the nose assembly mechanically inhibits actuation of the fastening tool trigger system.

Pneumatic fastening tool

An overhead dual arm tubular structure for supplying fresh and/or pneumatic air power to an operator and/or his air tool in a work area of varying shape. A structure whose main arm is freely revolvable about its vertical axis has a second arm of similar length swinging radially from its free end. Self returning hoses carrying air down from the second arm's outward end, enable an operator to work high or low anywhere within the periphery of the dual arm radius. A belt clip hanging at the end of the self returning hoses incorporates a quick release mechanism and hose swivels to allow the operator to easily engage and disengage from his fresh air supply and revolve freely about the attached fresh and/or compressed air hoses without risk of entanglement.
